The Associate Attorney will work full time on-site in Yakima, WA, supporting the firm’s personal injury practice. This partnership-track position will include managing a caseload under the supervision of senior attorneys, conducting legal research, drafting pleadings, motions, discovery requests, and correspondence, and preparing case evaluations.
The role involves communicating regularly with clients, medical providers, opposing counsel, and insurance representatives to gather information, provide legal updates, and move cases toward resolution. The Associate Attorney will assist in negotiating settlements, preparing cases for mediation, arbitration, and trial, and participating in hearings and depositions as appropriate.
Collaboration with the legal team on case strategy, adherence to deadlines, and maintaining accurate case files and documentation are essential to this role. Finally, the Associate Attorney position will provide the opportunity to work directly with clients and to work independently faster than at larger firms.
Qualifications:
- Ability to provide clear, practical legal advice to clients while managing expectations and explaining complex issues.
- Proficiency in legal research, including case law, statutes, regulations, and medical records review.
- Effective negotiation skills for handling insurance claims, settlement discussions, and dispute resolution.
- Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school and active license (or eligibility for timely admission) to practice law in Washington state.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with strong attention to detail and organization.
- Ability to manage multiple cases and deadlines, work collaboratively with a team, and maintain professionalism with clients and opposing parties.
- Prior experience in personal injury or civil litigation is preferred; trial or courtroom experience is a plus.
Abeyta Nelson offers a competitive starting salary: $100,000.00 – $150,000.00/yr depending on experience, opportunities for bonus compensation, a retirement plan, medical, dental, optical, and life insurance, and good mentoring.
