Student Research Assistant
Center for Urban Informatics and Progress (CUIP)
You like AI? CUIP is looking for you.
The Center for Urban Informatics and Progress (CUIP) at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga is a smart-city research center where AI meets the real world across a testbed of connected intersections—spanning multimodal sensing, trajectory prediction, V2X, and connected-vehicle safety.
We're looking for a Student Research Assistant to join us at the intersection of AI, V2X, and intelligent transportation.
You'd be a great fit if you have background in:
- AI multimodal and time-series modeling
- Computer networks and TCP/IP fundamentals
- Reading, reviewing, and synthesizing academic literature in technical fields
- Python, plus hands-on exposure to the core scientific/ML stack: PyTorch, NumPy, scikit-learn, pandas, and scapy
- DeepXDE - physics-informed AI
Knowing cybersecurity principles is a definite plus.
- Assist with multimodal/multilayer data collection, processing, and modeling for intelligent transportation research projects
- Develop, optimize, and maintain AI models for time-series prediction, classification, and anomaly detection in V2X misbehavior detection research
- Contribute to technical reports, academic publications, and project documentation
- Collaborate on interdisciplinary research initiatives within CUIP
