Director of Dietary Services

Responsibilities

  • Lead and supervise the dietary department staff, providing guidance, training, and mentorship to ensure high-quality service delivery.
  • Develop and implement nutritious menus that meet the specific dietary requirements of residents, including those requiring specialized nutrition plans.
  • Oversee patient assessment processes to tailor diet plans that support individual health conditions and treatment goals.
  • Manage departmental budgeting, inventory control, and procurement to optimize resources while maintaining compliance with safety standards.
  • Collaborate with healthcare professionals to create comprehensive care plans that incorporate dietary considerations for optimal health outcomes.
  • Ensure adherence to all health regulations, safety protocols, and sanitation standards within the dietary department.

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. An individual must be able to perform the duties in a positive work mode and serve as a positive role model and influence for both youth and peers. Must maintain Certified Foodhandler status. Certain skills and experiences may serve as meeting position requirements with managerial approval.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in dietary services within assisted living facilities or similar healthcare environments.
  • Extensive knowledge of nutrition science, physiology, dietetics, and patient assessment techniques.
  • Supervising experience with a demonstrated ability to lead teams effectively in a fast-paced setting.
  • Familiarity with budgeting, inventory management, and regulatory compliance related to dietary operations.
  • Excellent leadership skills with the ability to motivate staff while fostering a collaborative team environment.
  • Relevant certifications or licensure in dietetics or nutrition are preferred but not mandatory; however, comprehensive knowledge of dietetic principles is essential.
