Once a part of Kenrick-Glennon Seminary's campus, the Cardinal Rigali Center in Shrewsbury, MO is today the headquarters and curia (governing body) for the Archdiocese of St. Louis.

Job Summary

The Young Adult and Youth Minister serves as a collaborative member of the parish staff, working with the Pastor, staff, volunteers, and families to foster a culture of discipleship among middle school, high school, and young adults. Rooted in the mission to “Seek Christ and Share His Gospel,” this role accompanies young people in their relationship with Jesus Christ and invites them into full participation in the sacramental and communal life of the Church. This ministry follows a relational model, with emphasis on small-group discipleship through the YDisciple method.

Job Responsibilities

Youth Ministry

  • Coordinate middle and high school youth ministry using Amazing Life and YDisciple
  • Recruit, train, and support volunteers and small group mentors
  • Implement YDisciple small groups that foster prayer, relationships, and discipleship
  • Plan retreats, service projects, and faith formation events
  • Encourage participation in Mass, Adoration, and sacramental life
  • Promote diocesan events and maintain communication with families

Young Adult Ministry

  • Develop opportunities for young adults (ages 18–39) to grow in faith and community
  • Organize Bible studies, small groups, and fellowship events
  • Support young adult leadership and involvement in parish life
  • Accompany young adults in vocational discernment
  • Collaborate with neighboring parishes and Archdiocesan ministries

Evangelization & Discipleship

  • Foster a culture of invitation and accompaniment
  • Support parish initiatives such as Alpha, KNOCK, OCIA, and family events
  • Utilize social media and digital tools to engage participants
  • Encourage service and help individuals discover their gifts

Administrative Responsibilities

  • Maintain calendars, budgets, records, and registrations
  • Ensure compliance with Safe Environment policies
  • Coordinate volunteers and communications
  • Attend staff meetings and support parish initiatives

Job Qualifications

  • Practicing Catholic in good standing with commitment to Church teachings
  • Passion for evangelization, discipleship, and ministry
  • Bachelor’s degree (theology, ministry, education, or related field) preferred
  • Experience with youth or young adult ministry
  • Familiarity with YDisciple or willingness to be trained
  • Strong communication, organization, and leadership skills
  • Ability to recruit and develop volunteers
  • Proficiency in social media and digital communication
  • Availability for evenings and weekends
