Digital Literacy Intern

Overview
Since 2012, United Way of Utah County’s Digital Literacy program has worked to close the digital divide by providing free training to Utah County residents. With support from community partners, cities, and local organizations, we’ve equipped hundreds of residents with essential computer skills, job application expertise, and the confidence to navigate today’s technology-driven world.
As our Digital Literacy Intern, you’ll help keep this program running and growing, supporting instructors and students in the classroom, maintaining our computer inventory, and helping us reach new volunteers and students through community outreach and marketing.
Duties & Responsibilities
Volunteer Outreach & Engagement:
- Attend classes throughout the semester to provide support to instructors and document challenges and successes to help inform future program adjustments
- Gather volunteer feedback and document challenges to improve curriculum and support systems
Student Enrollment & Curriculum Development:
- Monitor student enrollment and progress using digital tracking systems
- Conduct check-ins and surveys with students to assess class progress and needs
- Help update and refine curriculum to better serve students
Computer Inventory Management:
- Help refine and maintain our computer inventory system
- Organize, test, and prepare computers in our inventory for program graduates
Marketing & Community Outreach:
- Capture photos and collect student success stories for use in marketing materials and donor communications
- Represent the program at schools, local fairs, festivals to recruit volunteers and students
Qualifications
- Valid driver’s license and access to a personal vehicle for use during working hours
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; willingness to learn new software
- Strong organizational and project management skills
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
- Ability to work effectively with people from diverse backgrounds
- Experience in community outreach, education, or nonprofit work is a plus
- Spanish language skills is a plus
Position Details
Schedule: 10-20 hours/week (afternoon and evening hours)
Duration: September-December
Location: in-person
Compensation: unpaid
