Sub for Santa Intern

Overview
For over 40 years, United Way of Utah County’s Sub for Santa program has partnered with local schools and nonprofits to provide Christmas gifts to children across Utah County and connect families with resources that support them year-round. Through the Volunteer Center’s programs, we’ve helped thousands of families receive critical support while creating meaningful connections across our community.
The Volunteer Center coordinates community and corporate volunteers, builds trust with the people we serve, and drives lasting change through volunteer engagement. As our fall intern, you’ll play a hands-on role in keeping Sub for Santa and our other Volunteer Center initiatives running smoothly; supporting volunteer coordination, maintaining accurate program data, and helping us work smarter as we head into our busiest season.
Duties & Responsibilities
Volunteer & Community Engagement
- Plan and execute outreach efforts to grow our volunteer base
- Communicate schedules, expectations, and key updates to volunteers and partner organizations to keep programs running smoothly
- Build and maintain strong relationships with volunteers, community groups, and partner organizations
Database Management
- Clean and update volunteer and program records to keep our database accurate and reliable
- Maintain documentation and organizational systems so programs run consistently across the team
- Review, sort, and process applications from social worker–referred families for the Sub for Santa program
Research & Process Improvement
- Identify opportunities to streamline workflows, strengthen organizational systems for long-term program sustainability.
- Submit process improvement ideas and review with team to implement changes
Qualifications
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, with willingness to learn new software
- Strong organizational and project management skills
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
- Ability to work effectively with people from diverse backgrounds
Position Details
Schedule: 10-20 hours/week
Duration: September – December
Location: in-person
Compensation: unpaid
