THE NEED
PROMOTIONAL & OPEN OPPORTUNITY
To fill a current vacancy, Bilingual Required (Spanish), 4 hours per day, 12 months per year at the Education Services Center in the Expanded Learning Department.
The established eligibility list will remain in effect for six (6) months, and will be used to fill any future vacancies during that time.

THE POSITION

Under the direction of an assigned supervisor, perform diversified and complex clerical duties in support of an assigned school or District office, department or program involving independent judgment and requiring in-depth knowledge of an assigned function.
THE CANDIDATE
Education & Experience
Any combination equivalent to sufficient experience, training and/or education to demonstrate the knowledge and abilities listed above. Typically, this would be gained through: graduation from high school and two years general clerical experience involving frequent public contact.
THE DETAILS
Testing Information
The examination process may be comprised of multiple choice exam, performance assessment, computer skills exam, or any combination of assessment appropriate to determine technical ability to perform the duties listed in the job description.

Step 1: Application Screening (pass/fail) Applications will be screened for minimum qualifications. Applications will be evaluated and ranked according to criteria that most closely meets the needs of the department, so it is essential that applicants provide as much detail as possible and answer all parts of the application, including work experience. If there is a high number of qualified applicants, a comparative screening will be conducted to determine which of the applicants will be selected for invitation to the performance examination.

Step 2: Bilingual Exam (written and oral) written scheduled
Date TBD; those that pass the written portion will then be invited to participate in the oral exam scheduled
Date TBD. Applicants must pass both portions of the bilingual examination to move forward to the next step, (performance exam).
Step 3: Performance Exam (weighted 50%) tentatively scheduled Date TBD. Applicants must pass the computer skills examination to move forward to the next step, (qualifications appraisal interview).
Step 4: Qualifications Appraisal Interview(weighted 50%) tentatively scheduled Date TBD.
All applicants must achieve a passing score in each part of the examination process in order to be placed on the eligibility list.
In order to qualify for the bilingual required position, candidates will also need to take and pass the bilingual skills exam which will test applicants on their ability to read, write and speak Spanish.

New Hires – Initial Salary Placement
Education
The District has established criteria in place that recognizes the education and experience new employees bring to their role in supporting students and the services of the District. Upon approval of the Director of Classified Human Resources, a new employee may be provided with advanced step placement up to Step 5 based on the following criteria:
- Additional qualifying experience beyond that required for entry into the class (limited to no more than one step for each two years of experience related to the classification)
- Additional education at the college level beyond the educational requirements established for entry into the class (limited to no more than one step for each two years of education related to the position)
All new hires placed at Step 1 of the salary schedule will advance to Step 2 after successfully completing the six-month probationary period.
Longevity increments are offered based on years of service with the District: an additional 1.20% of base salary after completing 4 years of service, 4.10% at 9 years, 7.08% at 14 years, 10.15% at 19 years, 13.31% at 24 years, 16.46% at 29 years.
Promotional and/or transfer candidates will be placed at the appropriate step in accordance with established Personnel Commission Rules & Regulations.
Education Incentives
All active, regular classified employees are eligible for an education incentive if they possess a college degree which is above and beyond the stated minimum qualifications for their classification.
AA/AS = 2.50%
BA/BS = 4.00%
MA/MS = 5.00%
Ed.D./Ph.D/JD = 6.00%

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS (Upon Offer Of Employment)
- Employment Verification: The Immigration Reform and Control Act requires that the District obtain documentation from every individual who is employed which verifies identity and authorizes his/her right to work in the United States.
- Individuals selected for employment are required to submit to a tuberculosis risk assessment, and, if risk factors are identified, would then be required to submit to a tuberculosis examination to determine freedom from tuberculosis.
- The District reserves the right to require a job related physical examination and satisfactory results from such an exam.
- Fingerprinting: State law requires that all employees be fingerprinted. AB1610 prohibits employment until the Department of Justice completes its obligations regarding the arrest and conviction information, and from employing a person who has been convicted of a violent or serious felony, as defined.
- All candidates with a conviction record for offenses other than minor traffic violations, must file a conviction record statement with their application. Such a conviction, or failure to report a record of convictions, may bar you from employment.
- Other: Eligibles will be required to provide a current DMV report and/or proof of auto insurance to the Classified Human Resources Department before being certified for a final selection interview for positions that require the employee to drive a district vehicle and/or hold a valid California driver's license.

HOLIDAYS
Approximately 14 paid holidays per year.
VACATION
Vacation is earned based on assigned hours. (For example: a new employee working 8 hours/day, 12-months per year will earn one vacation day per month, up to a total of twelve (12) days of vacation per
year. Employees who work less than 12-months per year or less than 8 hours/day shall be entitled to a prorated share of vacation benefits as outlined in the collective bargaining agreement.) Vacation earned increases with years of service with the district.
SICK LEAVE
The district provides for 1 day of illness leave per month worked, with unlimited accumulation for unused days.
