About the Position
We are a premium low-voltage systems integrator seeking experienced
Traveling AV & Security Installation Technicians to support commercial integration projects across the United States, with a primary focus on nationwide travel assignments.
While some work will occur locally in the NYC / New Jersey / Long Island / Westchester region, this role is fundamentally a travel-based field position, supporting deployments at client sites across the country. Projects vary in duration and location, and technicians should be comfortable being on the road for extended periods as needed.
This role is ideal for hands-on technicians who are equally strong in Audio Visual systems and Security installations, and who take pride in delivering clean, reliable, production-ready systems in complex commercial environments. We are especially interested in technicians with commissioning exposure—or those who are eager to grow into advanced integration, configuration, and system commissioning responsibilities.
Responsibilities
Audio Visual Systems Installation:

- Pull, dress, label, and terminate AV and low-voltage cabling

- Test, troubleshoot, and validate AV systems for performance and reliability
- Read and interpret AV drawings, schematics, and signal flow diagrams
- Support commissioning, system tuning, and client-ready handoff
Security Systems Installation:
- Install access control systems (card readers, biometric devices, electric strikes, maglocks)
- Install CCTV/IP surveillance systems including cameras, NVR/DVR systems, and monitoring infrastructure
- Install intrusion alarm systems, motion detectors, and panic/duress systems
- Install intercom and door entry systems integrated into networked environments
- Program and configure security systems (access permissions, alarm zones, recording schedules, alerts)
- Troubleshoot system issues including connectivity, hardware faults, and device failures
Structured Cabling & Field Integration
- Run, terminate, and test Cat5e, Cat6, and Cat6A cabling
- Perform cable management, labeling, and rack organization to high standards
- Support light fiber termination/patching when required
- Conduct site surveys for device placement, cable pathways, and equipment layout
- Work collaboratively with project managers, leads, and other trades on active job sites
- Maintain clean, safe, and organized work environments
- Document daily progress and communicate updates clearly to project teams
Qualifications
- 5+ years of hands-on experience in AV installation, security systems, and/or structured cabling
- Strong real-world experience in both AV and/or security environments preferred
- Ability to install, terminate, and test Cat5e/Cat6/Cat6A cabling
- Strong troubleshooting skills across field-installed systems
- Ability to lift 50+ lbs and perform physically demanding field work (climbing, bending, standing, etc.)

- Own personal hand tools appropriate for AV/security installation work
- Must be comfortable with frequent regional and nationwide travel
Preferred Qualifications
- Hands-on experience in both AV and security system installation (strongly preferred)
- Exposure to commissioning, configuration, or system programming
- Familiarity with AV-over-IP and networked system environments
- Experience with platforms such as Crestron, Extron, QSC, Biamp, Shure, Genetec, Lenel, or similar systems
- Basic fiber termination experience
- Strong understanding of integrated low-voltage systems in commercial environments
- AVIXA CTS, CTS-I, or CTS-D
