Chief Technology Officer
Berry Law
Mission
Own and execute the firm’s data, analytics, applications, AI, and supporting technology infrastructure strategy, against priorities set by the COO, so that practice groups, operations, and leadership can reliably use technology and data to drive better outcomes, higher productivity, and superior client service, while upholding the security, governance, and resilience standards established with the CIO/CISO.
About Berry Law
Berry Law is a nationally recognized, Veteran-owned law firm dedicated to protecting the rights of veterans and helping them secure the benefits they earned through their service. If you enjoy building teams, solving complex problems, and turning technology into real-world results in a fast-paced environment, this may be the perfect opportunity for you.
Position Summary
The Chief Technology Officer leads the firm’s data, analytics/BI, business applications, AI, and supporting infrastructure. Working from priorities set by the COO and within standards established with the CIO/CISO, the CTO turns operational, practice, and client-service needs into prioritized initiatives and delivers them through internal teams and vendors. This is a hands-on leadership role: the first year balances strategy and team-building with direct project and operational work, maturing into a true executive function.
Key Responsibilities
Strategy & Leadership
- Define and execute the firm’s data, analytics/BI, applications, AI, and infrastructure roadmap based on COO/CIO and practice-group priorities
- Serve as the primary technology partner to the COO and practice heads, turning needs into prioritized initiatives and releases
- Present systems architecture recommendations to senior management for funding decisions
- Lead, coach, and develop the Director of Data & Analytics, the Business Applications Architect, and their teams
Data & Analytics (BI)
- Ensure a robust data model and KPI framework supporting firm-wide reporting and analysis
- Govern key data definitions, access rules, and data-quality practices
- Drive delivery and adoption of dashboards and reports for leadership, practice groups, finance, and operations
Business Applications & Integrations
- Own the design and integration of practice-specific applications and automations with core platforms (e.g., Clio, Filevine, Salesforce, HubSpot, Microsoft 365, Azure)
- Translate practice requirements into technical designs, backlogs, and release plans
- Ensure custom applications align with the security, data, and integration standards set with the CIO
AI, Automation & Innovation
- Lead the firm’s AI and automation strategy, prioritizing pragmatic, high-impact use cases
- Manage AI solutions vendors, ensuring delivered solutions are integrated, documented, and supportable
- Evaluate and pilot emerging technologies and scale what works
Infrastructure, Security & Governance
- Help implement technology and cybersecurity policies defined with the CIO/CISO
- Support disaster-recovery and business-continuity planning, testing, and execution
- Participate in vendor selection, contracting, and performance management
