Role Description
The Youth Performance Coach is a full-time, on-site position based in St. Petersburg, FL, responsible for developing and leading Elevate's Youth Performance program for athletes and active youth ages 7–12, 13-18. This role focuses on teaching proper movement mechanics, building strength, improving speed, agility, coordination, and confidence, while creating a fun, engaging, and safe training environment.
Responsibilities include designing age-appropriate programming, leading small group and one-on-one training sessions, assessing athlete progress, and communicating effectively with parents to ensure a positive training experience. The coach will help instill lifelong movement skills, promote injury prevention, and encourage healthy habits that extend beyond the gym.
The Youth Performance Coach will collaborate with the Elevate coaching team to maintain programming standards, assist with youth events, clinics, and community outreach, and contribute to creating an exceptional experience for every athlete and family who walks through our doors. The role also includes helping maintain a clean, organized facility and upholding Elevate's culture of professionalism, positivity, and continuous improvement.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated coaching and training skills, with experience guiding youth or athletes in structured programs.
- Knowledge of athletic performance and strength & conditioning principles, including movement mechanics and age-appropriate progression.
- Ability to apply business coaching concepts, such as goal setting, accountability, and performance tracking, to youth development.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate, build rapport, and work collaboratively with youth, families, and team members.
- Relevant certification in fitness, strength & conditioning, or sports coaching (e.g., CPT, ACSM, CSCS, or equivalent) preferred.
- Experience working in a gym, studio, or sports performance environment, with commitment to safety and inclusivity.
- Availability for a consistent part-time coaching schedule, with flexibility to increase hours as program demand grows.
- Passion for youth development, personal growth, and fostering a positive, excellence-driven community.

Preferred Qualifications (optional, but helpful)
- Bachelor's degree in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, or a related field
- Experience coaching youth athletes in a private facility or team setting
- Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) or willingness to obtain
- Experience with speed, agility, and power development
- CPR/AED and First Aid Certification (or ability to obtain before employment)
Physical Qualifications
- Ability to demonstrate exercises and coach movement safely
- Ability to lift and move equipment up to 50 pounds
- Ability to stand, walk, kneel, and coach for extended periods
- Ability to work in an active, fast-paced training environment
