Summary: The Supply Chain Strategist is a pivotal role within the Supply Chain team, moving beyond simple order processing to drive strategic sourcing decisions. This individual manages the acquisition of raw materials, components, and services necessary to maintain Tuuci’s high standards of manufacturing for New Product Development (NPD). This role proactively manages supplier performance regarding cost, quality, and delivery during the NPD launch cycle. We are seeking a self-starter who views obstacles as opportunities; this role requires a professional who takes full ownership of challenges, moving immediately from identification to solution implementation without waiting for direction. They act as a bridge between external partners and Tuuci Engineering, NPD, Quality, Production, and Sales to ensure inventory availability matches Tuuci’s dynamic sales.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Initiates purchase orders for parts, services, and/or special tools.
- Partners with engineering to determine the ideal manufacturing method for parts in NPD.
- Secures and analyzes quotes, negotiates price, transportation, and terms with suppliers. Recommends suppliers with respect to cost, quality, and delivery competitiveness.
- Manage the procurement strategies for components that are part of NPD requiring deep market analysis and risk mitigation with respect to speed to launch and product launch risk.
- Create processes and tools to support manufacturing strategy decisions such as make vs buy.
- Works proactively to achieve Tuuci’s long term supply chain goals around cost savings.
- Manage the sourcing process for industrializing new parts that are “buy” items for Tuuci sites worldwide.
- Arranges for submission and inspection of sample products as required. Closely coordinates with TUUCI Engineering, NPD, and Quality Control to ensure parts purchased meet Tuuci requirements.
- Execute sourcing projects to drive cost savings – value engineering, resourcing, and negotiation projects by partnering with supply chain, engineering, and production teams.
- Research market prices, trends, engineering developments and manufacturing methods and suggest improvements.
- Proactively ramp up and manage inventory to support new product launches.
- Proactively identifies recurring issues, risks, and bottlenecks in the supply base and internal processes, and drives data-based corrective actions and long-term solutions.
- Develop advanced modeling tools (total landed cost analysis) to support sourcing decisions.
- Adheres to TUUCI Purchasing Processes and Policies.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Education And Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Engineering, or Supply Chain from an accredited institution.
- 3 – 5 years of experience on an Engineering or Supply Chain team in a manufacturing environment.
- Ability to read mechanical drawings – Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing.
- Ability to read and interpret ASTM & ASME standards.
- Project Management Experience
- Technical and business writing skills.
- Demonstrated decision-making, problem solving, organizational and systems-related skills.
- Strong data mindset and analytical skills.
- Fluent in English (Spanish proficiency a plus) with the ability to communicate clearly and effectively in a business setting.
- Excellent follow-up, time management and communications skills are required.
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and ERP system management are required.
