Varsity Cross Country Assistant Coach

The Calhoun School is seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Varsity Cross Country Assistant Coach for the Fall 2026 season. This is an exciting opportunity to work alongside an established and accomplished head coach while helping develop high school student-athletes in a supportive, competitive, and student-centered environment.

Salary:$4,700/annually

Hours per Week:15 hours

Start Date:8/23/2026

End Date:10/28/2026

Responsibilities

• Assist in planning and leading daily practices and workouts

• Help develop training plans and support athletes of varying experience levels

• Provide instruction on running mechanics, race strategy, pacing, and conditioning

• Foster a positive, inclusive, and supportive team environment

• Build strong relationships with student-athletes and serve as a mentor and role model

• Assist with meet-day preparation, athlete supervision, and race management

• Promote sportsmanship, accountability, resilience, and teamwork

• Collaborate closely with the Head Coach and Athletic Department

Qualifications

• Previous cross country, track & field, or distance running coaching experience preferred

• Competitive running experience at the high school, collegiate, or club level is a plus

• Experience working with high school-aged students (14–17 years old)

• Strong communication and leadership skills

• Ability to motivate and connect with student-athletes

• Reliable, organized, and committed to the full season
