(SE) RCC STUDENT AIDE IV (Forensic Investigations Lab Specialist)

Performs a variety of duties requiring advanced knowledge of subject in support of administrative or academic projects or functions. Requires knowledge of how program/work unit function and fit into the District or College programs. Gathers, integrates and interprets information.

High school diploma/DED and current college enrollment; applicant should have completed at least one full semester of full-time enrollment or two semesters of part-time enrollment. Student applicant should have at least a 2.5 cumulative GPA, be majoring in Administration of Justice or comparable field or certificate program and should have successfully completed the at least one of the following courses: ADJ-12 Criminalistics, ADJ-13 Criminal Investigations, ADJ-28 Crime Scene Investigation, or ADJ-31 Cybercrime & Digital Forensics.

No prior experience required, but student applicants with prior experience in evidence handling, lab work, or inventory-related experience will be more competitive.

The basic functions and responsibilities of this job include, but are not limited to:

1) Training on, operating, and maintaining the laboratory equipment, instruments, and supplies.

2) Cleaning, checking, and replenishing standard criminalistics lab equipment and supplies.

3) Assisting with new equiopment ordering.

4) Assisting with quarterly forensic investigations lab inventory.

5) Participating in and assisting with supply disposal or maintenance,

6) Assisting with lab expansion efforts.

7) Cnducting research under supervision on various areas beneficial to the program and lab.

8) Assisting with the development, set-up, and take-down of various lab-based scenario trainings, such as mock crime scenes or high-intensity/extensive preparation labs.

Jobs are only available for RCC students who are enrolled at least 1/2 time and maintain a 2.5 cumulative GPA. RIVERSIDE CITY COLLEGE MUST BE YOUR HOME COLLEGE AND MUST BE ELIGIBLE FOR THE FEDERAL WORK STUDY GRANT FROM THE FAFSA FOR 2026-2027

Flexible schedule, up to 15-18 hours per week (averaged).

Needed during Fall 2026, Winter 2027, and Spring 2027.
