Industrial/Continuous Improvement Engineer

The Industrial/Continuous Improvement Engineer applies engineering principles, mathematics, and management techniques to optimize complex systems, processes, and operations for maximum efficiency, productivity, and quality.
Job Duties
Process Analysis & Optimization: Analyze workflows, production systems, and operations to identify bottlenecks, inefficiencies, and waste, then design and implement solutions to streamline them
- Labor Standard Development: Perform work measurements, including time studies, line balancing, work simplification to determine manning requirements and performance data
- Layout & Facility Design: Plan and optimize facility layouts for manufacturing plants, warehouses, and other operational spaces, considering space utilization, material flow, ergonomics, and safety
- Quality Management System: Implement and maintain systems to ensure products and processes meet specifications
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work with management, operations, and other departments to implement recommendations and monitor results
- Continuous Improvement: Develops, implements and monitors the continuous improvement program, leading VSM, 5S and kaizen events. Drives lean training and implements a lean toolkit utilizing PDCA, VSM, Kaizen, problem solving, etc.
- New Product and Process Introductions: Actively participates to incorporate Lean and Continuous Improvement strategies during initial product launches

Experience
Strong background in time studies, work simplification, standard data, line balancing and other work measurement techniques; related certifications (Black Belt, Six Sigma, Lean Champion, etc.) desired
- High proficiency in Microsoft Office (MS Excel, Access, Project) and manufacturing operating systems
- Proficiency with MRP and Inventory Management practices
- Knowledge and proven skills in Lean Manufacturing methods
- Knowledge in advanced problem-solving techniques and process improvement methodologies such as Six Sigma (DMAIC), flow and Kaizen process, Value Stream Mapping (VSM)
- Sewing/Textile background a plus
Education
- BS in Industrial, Manufacturing, Mechanical or Lean/Continuous Improvement
- 3-5 Years of manufacturing experience
Physical Demands and Work Environment
Ability to stand and use external dexterities for an entire shift
Must be able to lift, pull and push to 45 pounds at times
Requires lifting, bending, reaching, and carrying
Noise in the work environment is generally moderate
