With recent contract awards expanding our portfolio, we're seeking a driven Project Manager to manage diverse, high-visibility projects ranging from site preparation and underground utilities to bridge construction and public works.

The Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Project Manager with a demonstrated track record in both office and field operations. You'll manage projects from award through closeout, overseeing budgets from $500K to $2M+, coordinating field teams and subcontractors, and serving as the primary point of contact for clients and engineers. The ideal candidate will have hands-on heavy civil experience, strong financial acumen, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment managing multiple concurrent projects.

Key Responsibilities

Project Planning & Budget Management

  • Develop detailed project budgets based on contract scope; track and manage costs throughout project lifecycle
  • Prepare and maintain baseline schedules aligned with job estimates; monitor schedule performance and implement corrective actions
  • Coordinate project planning including scope definition, resource allocation, timeline, and budget baselines
  • Process change orders; manage scope changes and maintain budget discipline

Team & Resource Management

  • Identify, hire, and coordinate the right internal and external team; provide coaching and training as needed
  • Coordinate with superintendents and foremen daily to align project goals, expectations, and execution
  • Estimate resource requirements (labor, equipment, materials); acquire and manage efficiently
  • Coordinate with all subcontractors on timeline, quality standards, and performance

Field Coordination & Compliance

  • Oversee project planning and execution, including traffic control plans, equipment mobilization, safety plans, haul road plans, and erosion control plans
  • Assist with customer support and contract administration on all projects
  • Manage quality control oversight and coordinate with field personnel on daily execution
  • Ensure compliance with permit requirements, safety protocols, and regulatory standards

Documentation & Software Management

  • Maintain organized project documentation, correspondence, and records
  • Input and manage data in Viewpoint (or equivalent project management software)
  • Utilize HeavyJob, Bluebeam, MS Project, and related tools for scheduling, cost tracking, and documentation
  • Generate job costing reports and financial updates for ownership

Required Qualifications

  • Construction Management or Engineering degree from a four-year university
  • 4+ years of project management experience in heavy civil construction (grading, excavation, paving, demolition, underground utilities, storm drainage, sewer lines, bridges, subdivisions, or public works)
  • Field and office experience: Demonstrated ability to manage both behind-the-desk and on-site responsibilities
  • Proficiency with project management software: Viewpoint, HeavyJob, HCSS Heavy Bid, Bluebeam, MS Project, or equivalent
  • Financial management skills: Budget development, cost tracking, forecasting, and variance analysis
  • Strong communication: Excellent verbal and written communication; comfortable interfacing with clients, engineers, and field teams
  • Problem-solver & self-starter: Operates independently, manages multiple projects, and thrives in a busy environment
  • Valid driver's license; willingness to travel to project sites as needed

Preferred Qualifications

  • Public works project experience (municipal/county/TxDOT projects preferred)
  • Experience with bonding and surety requirements for commercial and government contracts
  • PMP or CCM certification
  • Experience managing large metro or complex multi-trade projects
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish)
