Shop Supervisor - Trucking Fleet Maintenance

Position Summary
The Shop Supervisor is responsible for leading the daily operations of our trucking fleet maintenance and repair facility supporting a fleet of over 80 commercial trailers and company tractor trucks. This position ensures company equipment, and leased assets are repaired efficiently, meet DOT safety standards, and are returned to service as quickly as possible.
The Shop Supervisor oversees technicians, service advisors, work scheduling, inventory, vendor relationships, and shop performance while maintaining a safe, organized, and profitable operation.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage daily shop operations and technician workload.
- Schedule repairs, preventive maintenance and equipment inspections.
- Ensure all repairs meet company quality and safety standards.
- Supervise, coach, and develop shop employees.
- Monitor technician productivity, efficiency, and labor hours.
- Coordinate with Operations to prioritize equipment availability.
- Manage parts inventory and approve parts purchases when necessary.
- Ensure work orders are completed accurately and closed promptly.
- Maintain shop cleanliness, organization, and OSHA compliance.
- Control shop expenses and recommend cost-saving improvements.
- Handle customer concerns related to repairs and maintenance services.
- Track equipment downtime and identify recurring mechanical issues.
- Support hiring, training, and performance evaluations for shop personnel.
Qualifications
- 3+ years of trucks, trailers and equipment maintenance experience.
- 2+ years of supervisory or management experience.
- Strong knowledge of trucks and dry van trailer repair and preventive maintenance.
- Experience using maintenance management software (preferably Samsara or similar).
- Strong leadership, planning, and communication skills.
- Ability to prioritize multiple jobs in a fast-paced environment.
