Weather matters. We make all kinds of decisions based on what’s happening outside, and they often affect how we spend money. I’m in Aruba right now, so it’s pretty much guaranteed to be mid 80s, partly cloudy, and windy. My New Year’s plans are set, but if I was back in Chicago, the 15-degree high might keep me from doing something that I’d do if it was 20 degrees warmer.

Skymosity realizes this, which is why the San Rafael, CA based company has developed a weather marketing platform that “transforms big weather data into actionable wins for marketers.” While many marketers use seasonal weather changes as part of their campaigns, very few are reacting to the weather as it happens.

Weather or Not

Skymosity is a very new company with a sister company (I think?) called Email Aptitude. I’m not sure how much they’ve delivered for clients so far, but the goal is to give marketers access to weather based analytics along with email and site triggers based on weather. This means that a local restaurant could offer deals when it’s raining or a clothing company could push winter coats extra hard during a cold snap. The opportunities are endless, and Skymosity has built the platform to automatically react to any kind of weather condition.
