Broad Street Love is an organization that helps Philadelphians living in deep poverty stabilize their lives through a unique offering of meals and social services that is welcoming to everyone. Our long term vision is not only to meaningfully reduce the trauma and suffering caused by scarcity for Philadelphia’s most vulnerable populations, but, along with best‐of‐class social services and government partners, to break the cycle of poverty, homelessness and hunger in Philadelphia.
POSITION SUMMARY
The Manager of Community and Corporate Giving is responsible for cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding mid-level donors, as well as select major corporate and individual prospects. This role develops and strengthens relationships with local businesses, community organizations, and other key stakeholders to expand engagement and philanthropic support. The Manager also oversees volunteer engagement initiatives.
In addition, the Manager designs and implements personalized donor engagement strategies, manages mid-level giving programs and opportunities, and plans and executes targeted cultivation, stewardship, and outreach events to enhance donor relationships and advance fundraising goals.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Corporate Giving
- Develop and execute end-to-end cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship strategy for corporate giving opportunities.
- Develop and maintain corporate giving portfolio (30-50 prospects) and secure revenue target averaging approximately $200,000 annually. Collaborate with Chief Advancement Officer to identify and pursue cultivation strategies consistent with overall institutional and advancement strategy.
- Assess and develop corporate sponsorship opportunities in keeping with institutional funding priorities.
- Conduct research and networking to support prospect development. Analyze and monitor giving trends, philanthropic priorities, and funding cycles to identify emerging opportunities and adjust strategies to maintain alignment with organizational goals.
- Collaborate across departments to leverage corporate relationships for broader partnership opportunities or convert into philanthropic revenue.
Community and Individual Giving
- Develop and promote programs to activate peer-to-peer giving, solicit cause-based marketing opportunities, and manage similar advancement-oriented opportunities that support revenue growth and organizational visibility, including in-kind contributions.
- With advancement team, plan and carry out ongoing stewardship activity/ personal outreach for midlevel individual giving tier ($1,000-$5,000; represents approximately $200,000 in revenue annually). Maintain portfolio of 30-50 donors with upgrade potential and make recommendations on donor pathways in pipeline strategies.
- Strategize participation in, and represent Broad Street Love, at community events.
- Identify opportunities to leverage corporate support in tandem with individual giving by identifying corporate matching and other employee giving programs, and working within the advancement team to promote these opportunities in overall donor engagement strategies.
- As manager to Volunteer Coordinator, play an active and visible role in volunteer relations.
Communications Support
- Serve as editor for monthly/ bimonthly newsletter: create and compile content in fulfillment of communications plan, created together with Chief Advancement Officer.
- With other advancement and cross-departmental team members, play an active role in identifying and creating content for BSL communications strategy (such as social media stories, donor testimonials, recognition).
- Create and maintain evergreen development + volunteer communications pieces, including marketing materials (print and web) for giving programs, as needed.
Events
- Strategize, solicit, and steward gala sponsorships, ticket sales, and donations (approximately $160,000 goal). With Chief Advancement Officer, strategize and execute gala marketing plan.
- Secure in-kind support for gala, including auction items, event supplies, and volunteer talent.
- Create and execute annual engagement events for corporate and public groups, including corporate networking events, salon style cultivation events, community open house events, etc.
Volunteer Program Oversight
+ Supervision: Volunteer Coordinator
- Develop strategies that deepen volunteer engagement, promote volunteer hospitality, and create pathways for volunteers to become donors, advocates, ambassadors, and community champions.
- Set goals and manage workflow of Volunteer Coordinator.
- Guide Coordinator in collaborative work across the organization, including coordination of their work with Programs and Operations teams.
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience
- 4-6 years of experience in nonprofit fundraising, including solid track record of portfolio management, and closing and stewarding 4-5 figure gifts.
- Demonstrates a spirit of curiosity and innovation, and possesses the ability to plan, and project manage, and balance competing priorities.
- Embraces challenges and problem-solves; possesses a tenacity to make the most of donor engagement opportunities.
- Ability to set clear expectations and hold staff and vendors accountable.
- High level of professionalism, with the ability to uphold the integrity of the BSL mission, staff, and leadership in internal and external relationships.
- Excellent written and verbal skills that reflect the tone and values of Broad Street Love’s mission and brand.
- Commitment to, and thoughtful implementation of, the mission of Broad Street Love.
- Data-integrated approach to donor engagement strategies: track and report key performance metrics.
- Active engagement of centralized Advancement team organizational systems (esp. prospect & moves management, solicitation plans through Raiser’s Edge), and adherence to department data management protocol to advance coordinated prospect relationship management, revenue reporting, and fundraising projections.
