JOB TITLE: Front Desk Assistant

REPORTS TO: Sr. Manager of School Administration
LOCATION: Harriett’s Orlando Ballet Centre, 600 N. Lake Formosa Drive, Orlando, FL 32803
POSITION DATE: August 2026
POSITION STATUS: Full-time
SCHEDULE: Mondays-Wednesdays 1-9:15pm, Thursdays 1:30-9:15pm, Saturdays 8:30am-3pm
COMPENSATION: $16/hour
BENEFITS: All standard in coordination with employee handbook policies including health insurance for full-time employees
Basic Purpose and Objective of the Role
Under the direction of the Sr. Manager of School Administration, the Front Desk Assistant will provide a warm and welcoming presence to visitors at Harriett’s Orlando Ballet Centre. They will be stationed at the front desk to welcome, engage, and direct visitors, distribute general information, answer the phone, and provide general administrative assistance.
Orlando Ballet is seeking an independent, highly organized individual with experience in customer service, strong interpersonal skills, exceptional attention to detail, and a commitment to supporting Orlando Ballet in its mission to entertain, educate and enrich through the highest quality of dance.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to
- Welcoming visitors and ensuring they are properly checked in;
- Answering phones, forwarding calls or taking messages for staff as needed;
- Answering general inquiries about the organization, facility, and parking;
- Sign in students for classes;
- Taking initiative to assist and direct visitors as needed;
- Suggesting opportunities for engaging with Orlando Ballet by taking classes, purchasing tickets, donating, or volunteering;
- Monitoring lobby area to ensure smooth operations;
- Assist all OB departments with special projects as needed;
- Other duties as assigned.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
- Ability to remain stationary or stand of extended periods while staffing the front desk and assisting visitors.
- Ability to move throughout the facility to assist students, families, faculty, and guests.
- Ability to occasionally lift, carry, push, or pull up to 25 pounds including, but not limited to, office supplies, packages, and classroom equipment
- Ability to work in a busy, customer-focused environment with frequent interruptions and changing priorities.
- Ability to respond appropriately and efficiently in emergency situations and assist with facility evacuations or safety procedures when necessary.
Required Qualifications
- 2+ years of prior administrative and/or customer service experience;
- Excellent organizational, customer service, and communications skills (English speaking required, Spanish speaking a plus);
- Proven track record of ability to work independently, with great attention to detail and flexibility, in a fast-paced atmosphere under established time constraints;
- Ability to use computer systems, familiarity with Windows and Mac operating systems and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
Preferred Qualifications
- College coursework in business, nonprofit management, or another related field
- Experience in a nonprofit or arts environment
