Project Overview

ESH teams are comprised of three distinct disciplines that support our ESH Management System and processes at project sites and offices. These teams include environmental scientists, safety specialists, and industrial hygiene scientists. Collectively, they provide technical guidance and perform planning, risk assessment, inspections and monitoring, training, and data management.

Job Summary

The ESH Advisor supports the implementation of project ESH programs by performing both administrative and field tasks in accordance with industry standards and regulatory requirements. This role applies occupational safety practices to manage safety and health aspects of projects or facilities, with a primary focus on fieldwork. The position reports to the Area ESH Supervisor or designee.

The job involves physical tasks such as walking around construction sites in very hot or cold weather conditions, climbing ladders and scaffolding, working at heights or on uneven ground, and accessing confined spaces. You must also be able to wear all required personal protective equipment (PPE), including items like harnesses, life vests, and gloves.

Major Responsibilities

  • Establish and maintain constructive working relationships with craft professionals, field supervisors, and subcontractor representatives.
  • Integrate safety and health requirements comprehensively throughout all project phases.
  • Provide technical expertise for risk assessments and conduct safety reviews to ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Research, interpret, and apply both organizational and regulatory standards, preparing accurate documentation and technical reports.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of safety plans, permits, and training programs.
  • Participate in emergency response actions and incident investigations, including root cause analysis and corrective action tracking.
  • Communicate safety requirements clearly and facilitate their incorporation into project plans, contracts, and daily operations.
  • Conduct routine field inspections, monitor ESH performance, and verify adherence to all relevant standards.
  • Develop and disseminate ESH communications through presentations, bulletins, and digital platforms.
  • Collaborate with other ESH team members across all disciplines to provide comprehensive support as necessary

Education And Experience Requirements

  • A Bachelor of Science degree (or equivalent) in occupational safety, health, or a science-related discipline from an accredited university or college with 3 or more years of experience related to safety or occupational health; or an Associate’s degree (or equivalent) in one of the same disciplines with 5 or more years of relevant experience; or 8 or more years of relevant safety or health experience.

Required Knowledge And Skills

  • Ability to research, interpret, and apply regulatory and organizational requirements (e.g., OSHA, ISO 45001).
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, including technical writing and report preparation.
  • Analytical skills related to sampling, monitoring, and recordkeeping.
  • Ability to conduct field inspections, program audits, and manage corrective actions through completion.
  • Proficiency with computers to develop reports or presentations, manage data and reports.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in utilizing digital safety management software to oversee ESH processes.
  • Adaptable and able to work outdoors in a field environment under various weather conditions.
  • Ability to support multiple work shifts, as needed, and a wide range of field related tasks.
  • Valid driver’s license.

Additional Qualifications:

  • Experience in developing or delivering safety training or presenting to diverse audiences.
  • Ability to work in multicultural, multiple language, multidisciplinary environments.
  • Knowledge and experience with ISO 45001 Management System and OSHA standards.
  • Professional certification (e.g., ASP, OHST, CSP, CIH) or progress toward certification is highly desirable.
  • Broad technical knowledge, science skills, and technical writing abilities
