Youth Program Aide

Position Summary
The Youth Program Aide supports the daily flow of youth programming by assisting staff with classroom activities, transitions, meal service, supervision, and general program operations. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with young people, can follow directions, and is willing to support wherever needed to help create a safe, structured, and positive environment for students.
The Youth Program Aide works under the direction of program staff and helps ensure students are engaged, supported, and cared for throughout the program day.
Key Responsibilities
- Support student supervision during arrival, dismissal, transitions, meals, recess, enrichment, and classroom activities.
- Assist Program Assistants, teachers, and program leaders with daily activities, supplies, room setup, and clean-up.
- Help maintain a safe, welcoming, and organized program environment.
- Support meal service by helping with setup, distribution, monitoring students during meals, and cleaning up meal areas.
- Encourage positive student behavior by reinforcing program expectations, routines, and PBIS systems.
- Assist with transitions between classrooms, enrichment activities, outdoor time, and buses.
- Build positive relationships with students and model respectful, caring, and appropriate behavior.
- Support small groups or individual students during activities as directed by program staff.
- Help track basic student needs, concerns, or incidents and report them to the appropriate staff member.
- Assist with organizing supplies, materials, and program spaces.
- Participate in staff meetings, trainings, and daily check-ins as required.
- Follow all safety, supervision, confidentiality, and child protection policies.
- Perform other program-related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Experience working with children or youth preferred but not required.
- Ability to follow directions and work as part of a team.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
- Patience, flexibility, and a positive attitude.
- Ability to support students in a calm, respectful, and encouraging manner.
- Dependable, punctual, and willing to assist with a variety of program needs.
- Must be able to maintain professional boundaries with students, families, and staff.
- Must complete all required background checks, onboarding, and training requirements.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, and move around for extended periods of time.
- Ability to support transitions throughout the building and outdoor spaces.
- Ability to lift and carry light program materials, meal supplies, or classroom items as needed.
Schedule
Youth Program Aides may work during afterschool, summer camp, school breaks, or special program days based on program needs. Schedule will be determined by the Program Manager or supervisor.
