SUMMARY

Receives payment for service and plays a key role in maintaining or creating customer satisfaction.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

Essential Duties include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Greets customers at the cashier window in a pleasant and professional manner.
  • Invoices repair orders verifying that all charges are true and correct.
  • Receives cash, checks and credit card payments from customers, sales people, and body shop personnel for car deals, service invoices, and body shop RO’s.
  • Makes change and issues receipts to customers.
  • Reconciles cash drawer daily.
  • Refers customers who have questions about the work performed, additional maintenance or repairs, etc. to the service advisor or other appropriate individual.
  • Handles customer complaints with integrity and poise and, when necessary, refers dissatisfied customers to the appropriate individuals for resolution.
  • Closes open invoices.
  • Assists Service Advisors with calling customers to inform them that their vehicle is ready.
  • Codes and posts repairs done to vehicles that are in inventory.
  • Works with department manager to keep abreast of new products and services offered, their features and value, and any changes in price.
  • Cross-trains for other business offices tasks as required.
  • Maintains a professional appearance.
  • Keeps work area neat and clean.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and three to six months related experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals on an adding machine. Ability to compute percentage rates on an adding machine.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written or oral form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
