Referral Specialist for Health Partners

Position Purpose

The Referral Specialist coordinates, maintains, confirms and/or secures referrals, authorizations, or precertification needed on physician/clinic services. Verifies the accuracy and completeness of admitting information on outpatient referrals and obtains authorizations when needed.

This position will require excellent customer service and professional communication skills.

This is a hybrid opportunity working Monday - Friday, day shift.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Education: High School diploma or equivalent required
  • Experience: Minimum 1 year experience as a Referral Specialist
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and medical office procedures preferred.
  • Knowledge of third party payers and pre-authorization requirements preferred.
  • Demonstrates ability to efficiently organize work and maintain a high level of accuracy and productivity.
  • Ability to work with a wide variety of people under adverse conditions.
  • Computer skills including Epic and MS Office products.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of medical terminology, medical insurance and the healthcare system.
  • Effective communication skills
  • Able to communicate effectively in verbal and written communication.
  • Exceptional customer service skills.
