The Purchasing Specialist I will provide procurement support to the Procurement & Contracts Department. This role will place orders and ensure competitive and consistent pricing of products and services for the organization. In addition, this role will assist with a variety of procurement functions.
Roles/Responsibilities
- Places orders and ensures competitive and consistent pricing of products and services for the organization
- Submits bid proposals and Requests for Proposal (RFP) to procure a variety of goods and services; helps to negotiate contracts
- Evaluates bids responsiveness, vendor responsibilities, and vendor performance
- Monitors orders to ensure accurate and timely delivery of products, services, and contract compliance
- Reconciles and resolves open purchase orders and invoice discrepancies with vendors
- Attends vendor meetings to discuss pricing, payment terms, and overall service
- Manages vendor relationships, including polling sites to obtain vendor performance feedback
- Produces a variety of analytical reports showing annual savings by switching vendors, products, or services
- Manages vendor inquiries
- Follows and enforces procurement related policies and procedures.

- Contributes to the success of the organization by participating in quality improvement activities
Customer Relations
- Responds promptly to patients and employees
- Works with outside vendors to maximize quality of Vendor/NHC relationships and ensure industry respect
- Impacts patient experiences by demonstrating courteous and helpful behavior and a commitment to accuracy
- Operates to instill confidence in our care and in our facilities to patients, fellow employees, and other stakeholders
Requirements
Education/Experience: High school diploma/GED required; associates degree preferred. Two years of purchasing or accounting experience required; within the healthcare industry preferred. Previous experience with ERP or procurement software is required.

- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including superior composition, typing and proofreading skills
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
- Knowledgeable about and experience with ERP or procurement software
- Ability to successfully manage multiple tasks simultaneously
- Ability to maintain professional demeanor with internal and external contacts in all business transactions
- Ability to cooperate with a team in accomplishing goals and objectives

Pay Range: $27.21 - $38.08/hr. per hour, depending on experience.

While this range represents the broader classification of the role, actual compensation will be based on several factors, including but not limited to: the candidate’s overall knowledge, skills, and experience, market data and industry benchmarks, internal equity within the organization, Budgetary considerations and organizational needs. As a result, placement within the range is not guaranteed, and the full pay grade range may not be utilized.
