About the Role
We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Vice President, Lobbyist to lead state and local government affairs efforts, manage senior client relationships, and drive new business growth for the firm. This senior-level position is responsible for representing clients on legislative, regulatory, and budget matters, while cultivating relationships with key government officials and contributing meaningfully to firmwide revenue. The SVP will report to the President/CEO and COO and will play a critical role in shaping client strategy, expanding the firm’s footprint, and advancing the firm’s reputation for effective advocacy.
The successful candidate will have 10+ years of experience leading client engagements, a strong understanding of New York State government, and a history of building trusted relationships with policymakers and stakeholders to achieve results in legislative, regulatory, budgetary, and procurement advocacy.
Candidates with an established book of business are preferred. Compensation will be commensurate with experience.
Job Responsibilities
-- Lead state and local government affairs lobbying efforts, including legislative, regulatory, and budget advocacy on behalf of a portfolio of clients across multiple sectors and policy areas.
--Develop and execute comprehensive government relations strategies to advance client objectives through legislative, regulatory, and budgetary processes.
--Build, maintain, and leverage relationships with officials and staff in the Governor’s Office, Legislature, state agencies, local government, and key stakeholders.
--Develop and grow client relationships, identify new business opportunities, and help originate new work for the firm.
--Monitor legislative, regulatory, and budget developments, providing clients with timely analysis and strategic guidance.
--Mentor and lead Vice Presidents, Legislative Analysts, and other team members, fostering a collaborative and high-performing culture.
--Contribute to firm-wide strategic planning and help strengthen Ostroff Associates' position as a leader in government relations and public affairs.
Qualifications
-- 10+ years of experience in government relations and lobbying on behalf of clients.
--Deep understanding of New York State government, including legislative, regulatory, budget, and procurement processes.
--Proven record of success advancing policy, funding, regulatory, or business objectives through government affairs strategies.
--Strong network of relationships across state government, agencies, associations, and stakeholder communities.
--Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to engage clients, policymakers, and industry leaders.
