Role Description
Reporting to the Director, Manufacturing & Quality, the Manufacturing Engineer plays a pivotal role in helping facilitate the growth and execution of domestic production based out of Long Island City, NY. The core responsibility of the position is to Support the manufacturing and design of products. The Manufacturing Engineer collaborates closely with the Shop, Shop Manager, Navy Sales, Shop Planning, and Engineering.

Core Responsibilities
- Prepare and release complete engineering drawing packages to support WAM production activities
- Create production BOM and routers to support production
- Design and implement production fixtures and tooling to enhance manufacturing efficiency and accuracy
- Conduct teardown and root cause analyses to identify and document failure modes
- Collaborate cross-functionally with manufacturing, quality, and operations teams to ensure alignment on engineering deliverables
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives through data-driven design and process enhancements
- Oversee the design and testing of valve prototypes and products, ensuring adherence to quality standards, performance specifications, and regulatory requirements.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop product solutions that meet or exceed customer expectations.
- Provide technical support to engineering and quality staff, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.
- Support any special engineering projects deemed critical for new opportunities
- Ensure compliance with all applicable company policies, customer requirements, export control regulations, government contract requirements, and confidentiality obligations while supporting manufacturing operations.
- Provide hands-on engineering support within the machine shop by working directly with machinists, inspectors, and production personnel to resolve manufacturing issues and improve processes.
Key Criteria/Requirements
- Engineering experience in support of manufacturing valves or other industrial goods, with a track record of delivering innovative products and solutions. (3+ years)
- Strong technical expertise in design, machining, and fixture design processes.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams.
- Commitment to quality, safety, and regulatory compliance, with a focus on delivering products that meet or exceed customer expectations and industry standards.
- Results-oriented mindset with a focus on driving measurable outcomes and continuous improvement.
- Demonstrated commitment to workplace safety, OSHA compliance, and safe manufacturing practices.
- Ability to effectively support production in a manufacturing and machine shop environment while collaborating with operations, quality, and engineering teams.
- Ability to handle confidential engineering data, controlled technical information, and government-related documentation in accordance with company policies and applicable regulations.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, and occasionally lift up to 25 pounds while supporting production activities
Technical Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or industrial engineering.
- Solidwork and Autocad LT or similar drafting and 3d software experience required.
- Technology savvy, comfortable working with various software is moderate to high.
- Microsoft Office Suite- Excel, Word, PPT, Outlook, Teams Advanced Excel
- Familiarity with NDE process like PT, MT, and RT
- Familiarity with measurement and inspection devices.
- Smartsheet experience is a PLUS.
- Proficient with measuring devices (i.e calipers, gauges)
- Familiar with welding processes a plus.
- Must be able to safely work in a manufacturing and machine shop environment, including exposure to moving machinery, industrial noise, metal chips, lubricants, and varying temperatures.
- Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), including steel-toe safety footwear, safety glasses, hearing protection, and other required safety equipment when entering production areas.
- Must qualify as a U.S. Person, as defined under applicable U.S. export control regulations (including ITAR), to support controlled government and defense-related programs.
