VP, Accounting
Trellis Insurance Solutions LLC
As Trellis Financial brings a new fixed indexed annuity to market, accurate and timely carrier reporting isn’t a back-office afterthought - it’s essential for carriers, auditors, and distribution partners to rely on our numbers. This isn’t a maintain-the-status-quo position. We’re looking for someone energized by the chance to build the reporting processes and deliverables that support our partners from the early stages, shaping the templates, workflows, and controls that let us respond quickly and accurately, rather than inheriting decades of legacy practice. The right candidate thrives in a fast-paced, technology-driven, regulated environment where their work directly influences the integrity of the business and the experience of the partners who place business with us.
If you’re the kind of accounting professional who wants to own the numbers and build the process behind them, not just close the books, this is your opportunity.
POSITION SUMMARY
The VP, Accounting will be the primary supporting relationship between Trellis Financial and its partner carriers, ensuring they receive the complete, accurate data they need to report on their books. The role will support the design, execution, and continuous improvement of Trellis’s deliverables and will serve as a knowledgeable point of contact for partner carrier staff and auditors. Reporting to the Controller, this is a role for a candidate with strong accounting fundamentals and insurance experience, operating as a senior individual contributor. A strong command of U.S. GAAP is required.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Carrier Reporting
• Serve as the primary reporting contact for Trellis’s partner carriers, delivering the data and schedules they need to report on their books accurately and on time.
• Prepare, review, and validate periodic (weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual) reporting packages and deliverables for carrier partners, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and compliance.
• Reconcile premium, disbursement, commission, and related balances between internal records and carrier reporting, researching and resolving discrepancies.
• Interpret and apply U.S. GAAP to reporting deliverables, and reference Statutory (SAP) requirements as needed to meet carrier and regulatory reporting needs.
Audit & Inquiry Support
• Respond promptly and professionally to questions from carrier finance and operations staff, clarifying figures, methodology, and reporting detail.
• Support carrier and third-party audits by preparing requested schedules, reconciliations, and supporting documentation, and by serving as a knowledgeable point of contact for auditors.
• Identify reporting matters appropriate for escalation and engage directly with carrier partners, where required, to resolve them.
Process Development & Cross-Functional Partnership
• Develop, document, and continuously improve reporting processes, templates, and controls to deliver carrier support faster and more accurately.
• Partner with Finance, Operations, Actuarial, and Technology teams to automate recurring reporting and improve data quality at the source.
• Maintain clear documentation of reporting methodologies, assumptions, and procedures to support consistency, onboarding, and audit readiness.
• Provide visibility to reporting-calendar risks and bottlenecks, and drive resolution ahead of carrier deadlines.
