Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The TEACHING ASSISTANT will:

  • Model the Ursuline values of service, courtesy, loyalty and courage by attitude and action. Integrate the Ursuline Mission and Core Values into all activities.
  • Contribute to the mission and standards of the school by actively educating in a way that fosters and promotes the Academy’s unique culture and programmatic offerings.
  • Teach students in a high quality, engaging way.
  • Create and foster a positive learning environment and exhibit positive rapport with students.
  • Design, plan and execute rigorous classroom instruction using research-based strategies.
  • Maintain up-to-date lesson plans and grades in the designated student management system.
  • Work with all students to remediate gaps by teaching to the diverse learning needs of each student.
  • Maintain frequent communication on student progress with student families. Schedule and attend parent meetings and conferences.
  • Ensure all students with individual learning needs have high-quality modifications in place to meet the students’ needs and are on track to meet their goals.
  • Sustain and monitor a safe, orderly, disciplined school environment with high academic and behavioral standards.
  • Attend scheduled faculty meetings after school, as well as grade level and department meetings.
  • Attend and participate in the school’s professional development program as planned and scheduled.
  • Model the Ursuline mission, vision, and values in all communications with students, families, and staff.
  • Demonstrate an attitude of Serviam: I Will Serve, through participation in volunteer efforts that aid the Academy and its students.
  • Stay updated on trends and best practices in area of educational expertise and share ideas with faculty team, administrative team, Director of Early Childhood, and Academy President.

Other Duties

All positions will:

  • Seek out and share ideas for strategic, continuous improvement, with a mind to move the Academy toward strategic goals in all work.
  • Foster high ethical standards, integrity, confidentiality, and respect for colleagues, alumni/ae, parents, and students in all work.
  • Promote Diversity, Inclusion, and Belonging in all aspects of work with the goal of Serviam - I Will Serve - always in mind.
  • Perform other reasonable duties as instructed by President of the Academy and direct supervisor.

Qualification Requirements

Associate's Degree in Early Childhood Education or related field, CDA

At least 6 months experience teaching in a part or full day program for preschool at a licensed early child care center.

Qualification preferences

At least 2 years teaching experience in area of expertise
