Infection Control Practitioner- Full Time

Responsible for assessing surveillance documents daily, identifes “high-risk” diagnosis/lab reports, examines corresponding medical records for evidence of potential Hospital Acquired Infection, assembles data, and monitors staff response as evidenced by initiation of appropriate isolation. Conducts targeted surveillance to determine outbreaks, reports communicable, infectious diseases to local Board of Health, MD, nursing/ambulatory sites in designated time frame, enter demographics into CDRSS (Communicable Disease Reporting and Surveillance System), manages patient placement according to protocol. Researches and develops educational programs following established hospital policy, regulatory guidelines and accrediting agency requirements. Works collaboratively with direct care providers in achieving implementation of best practice and patient safety. Responsible to provide services to all sites within the healthcare system and associated physician offices and other tasks related to infection prevention and control as assigned.
Qualifications
Work requires the knowledge of theories, principles, and concepts normally acquired through completion of a licensed Bachelor's degree in Nursing, graduate of Public Health, Epidemiology, Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology with preferably two or more years of work related For Nurses, licensure required as a Registered Nurse in the State of New Jersey or able to acquire license within 60 days of hire. Experience for at least one year as an Infection Control Practitioner is preferred or at least attendance at an infection control course i.e. APIC training. Certifcation in Infection Control (CIC) is preferred but required after two years in the position, or obtained within 5 years of employment in the Re-certifcation every 5 years after initial certifcation is required as per CBIC (Certifcation Board of Infection Prevention and Control).
