Overview
The Product Manager of State Paid Leave plays a key role in defining, implementing, maintaining, and improving our State Paid Leave solutions, coordinating go-to-market activities, and playing a key role in maintaining compliance of the State Paid Leave offerings in a rapidly evolving landscape.
The Product Manager, State Paid Leave will support the various aspects of the State Paid Leave offering including but not limited to new State Program development, the overall management of the existing State Paid Leave portfolio, annual updates and planholder and member experience aligning with the overall build out of our State Paid Leave Strategy and Roadmap, ensuring the solutions are aligned to the product and company goals. The Product Manager, State Paid Leave is passionate about helping and enabling support and solutions and understands how to bring these solutions to life in the key moments that matter to the consumer with a demonstration of the ability to work collaboratively with other stakeholders across the value chain.
Responsibilities
- Contributes to the development of a clear product vision and roadmap that is aligned with Guardian’s goals and objectives.
- Supports monitoring and refining of existing State Paid Leave product strategy, aligning with stakeholders and an evangelist for improving the wellness of those we serve.
- Accountability for monitoring KPIs to ensure proper adoption and performance outcomes are achieved.
- Works independently but also collaborates with the rest of the product managers and matrix partners to identify opportunities and deliver on shared initiatives.
- Effectively communicates with all levels of the organization, externally and in large public forums. Understands how to communicate effectively; articulates information is a manner that is easily understood.
- Supports influencing negotiations with vendor partners, and influences stakeholders across multiple teams and departments.
- Execute product management processes throughout the product lifecycle, including product development, roadmap planning, and launch activities.
- Conduct regular market research and analysis to keep abreast of trends and adapt to the ever-changing market environment.
- Deliver and present reports, product plans, and competitive analyses to internal stakeholders.
- Oversee the accurate and timely completion of compliance/regulatory reports to various state departments
- Supports the development of compelling presentations and documentation. This includes representing Guardian in Thought Leadership webinars and speaking engagements, broker meetings and roadshows, industry associations etc.
- Comfortable representing the company as the SME and presents internally and externally alike.
Requirements
- Minimum 5+ years of experience in product management, preferably in the Absence, Disability and State Paid Leave space.
- Direct disability, absence, or supplemental health group insurance experience.
- The ability to contribute to the development of a clear product vision and translate that vision into actionable product roadmaps. Produces clear supporting documents in PowerPoint, Excel, etc.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills
- Ability to effectively handle multiple priorities.
- Fosters a high level of teamwork and collaboration between employees, teams, across departments and the field as appropriate.
- Possesses excellent organizational skills.
- Exhibits analytical and problem-solving skills; comfortable using metrics and data to form insights, guide decisions, and measure success.
- Project management experience with a track record of delivering results on time and within budget.
- Experience working within a matrixed environment and contributing to cross-functional teams.
- Entrepreneurial – ability to work independently and under pressure; ability to bring clarity to ideas that may appear unclear or ambiguous in concept.
- Exhibits financial acumen analytical skills, ability to analyze and communicate financial information, and support business case development.
- Knowledge of Agile and Lean product development methodologies.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in business, computer science, marketing science or related fields.
Location
- Travel up to 20%
- Hybrid (3 days in office per week): Bethlehem, PA, Greater NYC, Greater Boston, Holmdel, NJ or other local campus

Salary Range
$79,310.00 - $130,295.00
The salary range reflected above is a good faith estimate of base pay for the primary location of the position. The salary for this position ultimately will be determined based on the education, experience, knowledge, and abilities of the successful candidate. In addition to salary, this role may also be eligible for annual, sales, or other incentive compensation.
