VP of Field Operations, 2 Hour Learning - $200,000/year USD

Crossover

You enter a facility and immediately identify what's wrong — the ceiling tile hanging loose that no one documented, the HVAC unit that's been making noise for days, the landscaping contractor who delivered half the scope and billed for the full amount. You don't wait for complaints to surface. You resolve issues before they're visible to anyone else.

That skill defines this position. 2 Hour Learning runs premium K–12 campuses where families expect an environment that is safe, reliable, and ready for tours every single day — not only when events are scheduled. You will maintain that standard throughout the Northeast region: Manhattan serving as your main campus, with consistent travel to facilities in CT, MA, and PA. Your work determines whether a campus delivers a premium experience or slowly declines between leadership inspections.

Year one focuses heavily on establishing standards and cleaning up vendor relationships — defining what "ready" means operationally, building out audit routines, removing underperforming vendors, and bringing Campus Coordinators and Site Specialists into a sustainable operating cadence. As the region expands and your playbook matures, the role evolves into steady-state regional oversight: you become the operator the organization depends on when launching a new campus, managing an emergency, or revising a standard.

This is a field-based role. If you prefer to lead from behind a screen, this isn't the right fit. If you want direct accountability for whether 25+ campuses deliver a premium experience daily — and the autonomy to make it happen — continue reading.

What You Will Be Doing

  • Executing regular on-site inspections across Northeast campuses using documented standards for cleanliness, HVAC, safety, security, signage, landscaping, furniture, and tour-readiness — and converting audit findings into confirmed corrective action
  • Managing facilities emergencies and ongoing issues, coordinating vendor response, and closing work orders only after confirming resolution (urgent within 24 hours, routine within 1 week)
  • Overseeing local vendor performance against service-level agreements, removing vendors who fail repeatedly, renegotiating contracts, and conducting direct accountability discussions on cost and quality
  • Establishing a weekly operational rhythm with Campus Coordinators and Site Specialists to ensure each campus executes consistent routines rather than relying on ad hoc problem-solving
  • Overseeing major campus improvement projects (HVAC replacements, interior upgrades, landscaping, AV/networking installations) on time and within budget, with minimal student disruption
  • Documenting enterprise-wide standards and AI-supported procurement workflows (leveraging ticketing platforms, IoT/predictive maintenance tools, and centralized vendor sourcing) to ensure consistent campus openings and operations
  • Delivering clear weekly written updates on regional quality metrics, vendor accountability, escalated issues, and capital expenditure tracking

What You Won’t Be Doing

  • Leading remotely from a dashboard — this position demands frequent physical presence at the Manhattan campus and 20–40% travel to regional locations (CT, MA, PA)
  • Designing campuses from the ground up or managing new construction projects — capital expansion is managed by a separate team
  • Creating company-wide procurement policies without field input — your standards emerge from direct site observation
  • Working within clean reporting structures with direct authority over everyone whose performance affects your outcomes — you will drive results through clarity, documented follow-through, and refusal to accept ambiguous vendor commitments
  • Tolerating "tour-ready only when executives visit" as an acceptable baseline — persistent issues are diagnosed at the root, not simply re-logged
  • Operating in reactive crisis mode as the norm — audit schedules and predictive maintenance tools exist to catch problems before they generate complaints

VP Of Field Operations Key Responsibilities

Maintain every campus in the Northeast region as safe, premium, and tour-ready every single day.

Basic Requirements

  • Located in New York City or within commuting distance, able to work primarily from the Manhattan campus with 20–40% regional travel
  • Authorized to work in the United States without requiring visa sponsorship
  • 5+ years managing multi-site facilities, regional operations, hospitality operations, retail operations, or school operations
  • Documented success holding vendor-managed services accountable for quality, cost, and service-level performance across multiple sites
  • Hands-on experience resolving urgent facility problems (safety, HVAC, security, cleanliness) with measurable impact on customer experience
  • Consistent written operational discipline: issue tracking, escalation documentation, vendor communication, weekly regional performance summaries
  • Practical experience with contemporary operations platforms (ticketing systems, IoT/predictive maintenance, AI-enabled procurement or planning)

Nice-to-have Requirements

  • Multi-site leadership experience in premium hospitality, luxury retail, private K–12 education, or healthcare organizations serving high-expectation clients
  • Experience building or overhauling a regional operations model that previously depended on individual heroics instead of repeatable systems
  • Proven ability to terminate underperforming vendors and rebuild a reliable local vendor network
  • Experience managing capital improvement projects (HVAC, AV/networking, landscaping, interior renovations) in active, customer-facing facilities
  • Familiarity operating in an AI-first environment where playbooks, dashboards, and predictive tools handle routine work so people can focus on decision-making
