Educator (Part-time)

Role Overview

Two by Two Character Development, is seeking a Part-Time Educator to deliver our character education curriculum in elementary classrooms across Dubuque, IA.

This role is ideal for an experienced educator who thrives working independently, enjoys engaging with children, and feels invested in representing a mission-driven organization.

Key Responsibilities

• Teach Character Education Lessons during three six-week sessions throughout the year, using Two by Two’s established curriculum and materials.
• Create a Positive Learning Environment that encourages student participation and models strong character values.
• Work independently to prepare lessons, manage schedules, and coordinate with school partners.
• Represent the organization publicly in classrooms, school meetings, and community interactions.
• Communicate professionally with teachers, administrators, families, and Two by Two staff.
• Support program needs such as events, outreach, or occasional administrative tasks.

Qualifications

Required

• Experience working with children in an educational or youth-focused setting.
• Independent work style with proven ability to manage responsibilities without daily supervision.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Comfortable using basic WORD, EXCEL and GOOGLE Suite technology.
• Reliable transportation to partner schools within the Dubuque area.

Preferred

• Background in education, youth programming, or child development.
• Familiarity with character education and social-emotional learning.
• Experience leading small groups or facilitating interactive lessons.

Schedule & Compensation

• Part-time role aligned with the Dubuque Community Schools calendar with three six-week teaching sessions scheduled per year.
• Approximately 10–15 hours per week during active sessions and as needed outside of teaching sessions.
• Competitive hourly compensation based on experience.
