This is a role that requires a multi-disciplinary team approach to solving problems and patient challenges. "That's not my job" or "someone else can do it" is not in our team vocabulary because we are here to be of support to each other. The primary goal is to bring the best patient care and experience for our area's children.

SUMMARY: Provides administrative support to healthcare Providers and acts as a liaison to outside agencies.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Prepares and compiles patient records as directed by the Provider.
  • Ensures infusion orders are complete as directed by the Provider; including any required supportive care orders.
  • Communicates with members of the health care team, patients, and families using various communication measures such as verbal and written.
  • Collaborates with the Providers to prepare documents such as FMLA, school notes, letters, and the dissemination of educational materials.
  • Ensures the electronic health records (EHR) has all required and current demographic information, including preferred pharmacy and email addresses.
  • Assists with coordinating home care, hospice, and specialty infusions.
  • Coordinates with specialty pharmacies to fill specialty medications ordered by the provider.
  • Functions as a liaison to outside agencies such as Make-A-Wish, NCCF, and Candlelighters.
  • Other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • High School diploma or GED.
  • Healthcare industry experience.

PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Experience in a managed care environment.
  • Physician office experience.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Excellent oral and writing communication skills.
  • Ability to work efficiently despite frequent interruptions.
  • Emotional maturity and ability to manage moments of stress.
  • Ability to pay close attention to detail and maintain a high level of accuracy.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Occasionally lift up to 15 pounds at times.

LANGUAGE SKILLS: English. Bilingual English/Spanish, preferred.

Shift Schedule: Monday - Friday, 9:00AM-5:30PM
