Position Overview
This is an entry-level Production Chemist I position within the Toxicology Business Unit supporting Bulk Reagent Formulation (Manufacturing). Under close supervision, the Chemist will perform manufacturing support functions, operate laboratory equipment, and execute procedures in accordance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and Quality System requirements.
Recent graduates with laboratory experience are encouraged to apply.
Key Responsibilities
- Follow laboratory safety procedures.
- Read and follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Perform routine maintenance and maintain equipment logbooks.
- Manufacture products using Batch Records and SOPs in accordance with GMP.
- Antibody solutions
- Drug positive solutions
- Enzyme-conjugate solutions
- EIA calibrators and controls
- Reagents
- Perform analytical EIA in-process testing.
- Perform daily temperature monitoring.
- Support manufacturing goals and objectives.
- Participate in Lean activities.
- Operate laboratory equipment safely.
- Maintain accurate laboratory records, notebooks, and perform data entry.
- Maintain a clean and organized laboratory.
- Participate in document revisions for BOMs, NCMRs, deviations, and process documentation.
- Perform formulations, component/material evaluations, equipment calibration, and maintenance.
- Work overtime and weekends as needed.
- Follow company quality policies and regulatory requirements.
- Build productive internal and external working relationships.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree (BS/BA) in Chemistry or Biological Sciences.
- 0–2 years of laboratory experience.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to follow detailed instructions and maintain accurate records.
- Adhere to safe laboratory practices.
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of laboratory equipment and operation.
- GMP experience (preferred but can be trained onsite).
- Experience with Batch Records and SOP documentation.
- Problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Strong analytical and organizational skills.
- Experience with Microsoft Office and manufacturing systems.
- Ability to work independently and within a team.
- Adaptable and willing to learn new tasks.
Ideal Candidate
- BS in Chemistry or Biological Sciences (Master's degree is considered overqualified).
- 1–2 years of laboratory experience preferred.
- Experience in medical device manufacturing is a plus.
- Leadership qualities and strong technical writing skills.
- Experience working with Quality Control (QC) and Quality Assurance (QA) teams.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities
- Manufacture reagents for ELISA, HEIA, Calibrators, and Controls.
- Perform antibody purification.
- Test antibodies and antigens.
- Prepare and test reagents.
- Work closely with Quality Control and Quality Assurance teams.
