The Junior Associate 1 Position is designed for newly licensed attorneys who are committed to developing exceptional legal skills and building a long-term career in a sophisticated, fast-paced law practice. This position provides intensive mentorship, practical experience, and increasing responsibility across the firm's practice areas, with an emphasis on developing excellent legal judgment, technical proficiency, and client service. The Junior Associate focuses on professional development, mastery of firm systems, and progressively handling more complex legal matters under attorney supervision.

Location: Wellington, Florida

Employment Type: Full-Time

Compensation: 90-day training, eligible for competitive salary based on experience, with performance-based advancement opportunities.

Schedule

  • Monday through Friday
  • In-person position at the Wellington office

Expectations

  • Dress in professional business attire.
  • Complete all work with exceptional thoroughness, accuracy, and attention to detail.
  • Maintain strict compliance with the Florida Rules of Professional Conduct and all firm policies.
  • Communicate professionally with clients, attorneys, courts, government agencies, and staff.
  • Maintain organized files, detailed notes, accurate billing records, and timely timekeeping.
  • Demonstrate initiative, accountability, and a commitment to continuous learning.
  • Meet deadlines consistently while managing multiple assignments.
  • Maintain confidentiality and exercise sound professional judgment.

As a Junior Associate at Eques Law, P.A., you will:

  • Develop mastery of professional legal timekeeping and law firm practice management.
  • Conduct sophisticated legal research, statutory analysis, and case law analysis.
  • Draft, review, revise, and negotiate complex legal and transactional documents.
  • Prepare pleadings, motions, memoranda, contracts, corporate documents, and correspondence.
  • Assist in managing litigation matters from inception through resolution.
  • Participate in client meetings, consultations, and strategy discussions.
  • Analyze financial records and prepare supporting legal and financial documentation.
  • Prepare and file business immigration petitions, including investor, professional athlete, and employment-based immigration matters.
  • Draft and file multi-state corporate, business, and financial documents.
  • Develop advanced proficiency with immigration, corporate, and financial databases and software platforms.
  • Communicate with government agencies, opposing counsel, clients, and third-party professionals.
  • Assist with due diligence, compliance reviews, and complex legal projects.
  • Build a comprehensive understanding of the firm's practice areas, legal strategies, and industry-specific terminology.
  • Participate in ongoing legal education, mentorship, and professional development opportunities.

Qualifications

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an ABA-accredited FL law school.
  • Active membership in good standing with The Florida Bar or pending admission with an expected admission date.
  • Excellent legal research, writing, and analytical skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and exceptional attention to detail.
  • Intermediate to advanced proficiency with Adobe Acrobat Pro DC, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Google Docs, and Google Sheets.
  • Familiarity with iCloud, Dropbox, and Google Drive paperless document management systems.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects while maintaining a high level of accuracy.
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Candidates should genuinely consider themselves perfectionists who take pride in producing outstanding work product.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team while exercising sound independent judgment.
  • Candidates must be able to perform the position in person at the Wellington office.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior law firm experience through internships, clerkships, or judicial internships.
  • Experience or demonstrated interest in business law, corporate transactions, immigration law, commercial litigation, finance, or related practice areas.
  • Interest in developing a long-term career with the firm.
