Position Summary
The Lending Operations Manager oversees the day-to-day operations of the Credit Union’s lending department, including underwriting, processing, funding, title and lien perfection, and loan origination support. This is a hands-on leadership role responsible for managing staff performance, monitoring loan pipelines, administering lending systems, and assisting with production as needed.
The role ensures loans are processed accurately, timely, and in compliance with Credit Union policies and regulatory requirements while supporting loan growth, operational efficiency, and exceptional member service. The Lending Operations Manager partners closely with the VP of Lending and collaborates with Branch Operations, Collections, Marketing, IT, and vendors to enhance lending performance and deliver the Edwards Experience.
Duties
Lending Operations
- Manage daily lending operations, including underwriting, processing, funding, and title/lien perfection.
- Monitor loan pipelines to ensure timely movement of applications.
- Assign and balance workloads based on volume and priorities.
- Resolve escalated member, dealer, and operational issues.
- Assist with loan production as needed.
- Serve as department administrator for MeridianLink and Origence.
- Maintain workflows, reports, and user access.
- Monitor operational metrics, productivity, and pipeline aging.
Loan Growth and Sales Support
- Support loan growth by improving follow-up and conversion of approved loans to funded loans.
- Coach staff to identify member needs and recommend appropriate products and services.
- Partner with Branch Operations and Marketing on campaigns and referral initiatives.
Credit Administration and Loan Approval
- Exercise loan approval authority within assigned limits.
- Review exceptions, counteroffers, and complex loan scenarios.
- Escalate loans outside authority to the appropriate approver.
Compliance, Risk Management and Quality Control
- Ensure adherence to lending policies and applicable regulations.
- Monitor loan quality, documentation, and required disclosures.
- Support audits, quality control reviews, and corrective action plans.
Leadership and Team Development
- Supervise, coach, and develop lending staff.
- Establish performance expectations for productivity, accuracy, service, and cross-sales.
- Conduct regular one-on-one meetings and team huddles.
- Identify training needs and address performance concerns in partnership with Human Resources .
Qualifications
- Minimum three to five years of similar or related lending experience a credit union, bank, or financial institution; two years of experience in a supervisory or lead role preferred
- Experience supervising or supporting lending operations, underwriting, processing, funding, DMV/title, lien perfection, or originations preferred.
- Experience with MeridianLink and Origence preferred.
- Experience with consumer lending required.
- Experience with home equity loans and HELOCs preferred.
- Experience with loan approval authority preferred.
- Strong working knowledge of lending regulations, loan documentation, adverse action, collateral requirements, and fair lending expectations.
- Strong proficiency with Microsoft Excel, lending reports, pipeline tracking, and production reporting.
- Associates degree preferred, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- NMLS registration may be required depending on assigned mortgage loan duties
Estimated Starting Salary Range: $75,164/yr to $93,955/yr
