The Institute of Knowledge (IOK) is seeking a dedicated and skilled
Software Engineer to join our team. This is a Full-Time position based in San Jose, California. As a key member of our technical team, you will play a crucial role in developing and maintaining the software infrastructure that supports our diverse range of Islamic educational programmes. You will contribute directly to our mission of fostering a finer future by creating high-quality digital solutions that connect our community with essential Islamic resources, from our accredited school to our online seminary courses.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and implement software solutions for our educational platforms, including online learning systems and administrative tools.
- Maintain and enhance existing web applications, ensuring they are scalable, secure, and user-friendly.
- Collaborate with educators, administrative staff, and other stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into technical specifications.
- Write clean, efficient, and well-documented code in accordance with best practices.
- Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve software defects and technical issues in a timely manner.
- Participate in the full software development lifecycle, from initial concept and design to deployment and support.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of our development processes and technical architecture.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Proven experience in a software engineering role, with a strong portfolio of completed projects.
- Proficiency in modern programming languages such as Python, JavaScript, or Java.
- Solid experience with front-end and back-end web development frameworks (e.g., React, Angular, Django, Node.js).
- Strong understanding of database technologies, both SQL and NoSQL.
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and critical thinking skills.
- Superb communication and teamwork abilities, with a capacity to work effectively in a collaborative environment.
- A genuine interest in the education technology sector and an appreciation for the mission of the Institute of Knowledge is highly desirable.
