We are seeking a Mechanical Designer II to support our Product Platforms and Project Engineering team. In this role, you will create and revise electro-mechanical designs using SolidWorks and AutoCAD, develop detailed drawings, process engineering change orders, and provide technical support to manufacturing and engineering teams.

What You'll Do

  • Create and update electro-mechanical designs and drawings in SolidWorks and AutoCAD.
  • Process engineering change orders (ECOs) and maintain accurate design documentation.
  • Develop design solutions for new applications and customer requests.
  • Support manufacturing and quality teams with design, tolerancing, and inspection requirements.
  • Assist with on-site inspections, quoting activities, and troubleshooting design issues.

What We're Looking For

  • Associate degree in Mechanical Design, Electrical Design, Engineering Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 3–7 years of design experience.
  • Proficiency in SolidWorks and AutoCAD.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes, dimensioning, tolerancing, and inspection practices.
  • Experience with mechanical and/or electrical system design preferred.

The Mechanical Designer role shall support the Product Platforms and Engineering team completing design work using Solidworks and AutoCAD / Draftsight. The Designer role is responsible for the content and accuracy of drawing deliverables from the Engineering department.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities Include

  • Completes electro-mechanical design work in Solidworks.
  • Process Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) completing design and drafting work to create and revise parts and drawings.
  • Determines part and assembly tolerances in accordance with current established standards.
  • Determines inspection dimensions for key characteristics and quality assurance / control inspections.
  • Makes final drawing, checking dimensions, materials to be used, the relation of one part to another, and the relation of various parts to whole structure or project on the drawing.
  • Develops design proposals to meeting the needs of new application and sales request, solicits input as needed from Application Engineering and supporting Engineering roles.
  • Measure distances to verify the accuracy of dimensions of structural installations and layouts.
  • Utilizes knowledge of various machines, engineering practices, mathematics, materials, and other physical sciences to complete drawings.
  • Suggest manufacturing and assembly methods appropriate for product designs, solicits input as needed from Manufacturing and Industrial Engineering.
  • Reviews and understands test request and reports to support ECO processing.
  • Provides engineering support to the manufacturing shop floor as required.
  • Corrects any errors/omissions that occur in an expeditious manner and looks for ways to reduce/eliminate reoccurring errors.
  • Performs on-site inspections and supports quoting activities.
  • Understands and interprets regulatory codes such as UL, NEC and NFPA.
  • Perform any other duties as required by the customer and assigned by management. Supports and upholds the Quality and EHS policy. Upholds the Core Values.

Supervisory and Leadership Responsibilities

  • This role has no supervisory responsibilities but is expected to provide guidance to the Designer I role.

Qualified candidates will possess the following

  • Associate degree (A.S.) in Mechanical Design, Electrical Design, or Engineering Technology and three to seven years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD 2018 or newer and SolidWorks are required.
  • Working knowledge of common manufacturing techniques, dimensioning, inspection, and tolerancing are required.
  • Experience with mechanical and/or electrical system design is desirable.
