Role Description

We are seeking a Client Advocate to join our expanding national practice. This position is based in Lawrence, Kansas, and offers a flexible four-day workweek designed to support work-life balance and long-term sustainability in legal practice.

Responsibilities

The Client Advocate is dedicated to supporting clients throughout their legal journeys, ensuring they understand the status of their claims and appeals. This role is pivotal in fostering positive client relationships. The position reports to the Sr. Associate Attorney.

  • Manage day-to-day administrative and procedural flow of cases, ensuring deadlines are met
  • Serve as the client's primary point of contact. Answering calls, emails, texts, and web inquiries from clients
  • Respond to client and internal requests in a timely and prioritized manner, balancing daily tasks, deadlines, and broader team goals
  • Gathering case details, timelines, and relevant documentation, and entering them into the case management system
  • Accurately maintain case information in the case management system
  • Prepare VA submissions under the direction of attorneys. This will include gathering lay statements and preparing them for attorney review.
  • Gather client feedback to improve services and address concerns
  • Work with attorneys and team members to ensure a cohesive client experience

Qualifications

Candidates must have a bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college and be conversationally fluent in Spanish.

  • Conversational Spanish: written and oral for client correspondence
  • Client Experience Mindset: deliver empathetic, high-quality service that builds trust and supports a positive client journey
  • Conflict Resolution: ability to de-escalate tense situations, address disputes constructively, and reach mutually agreeable solutions
  • Active Listening: fully concentrating on the client's words without interrupting to identify the root cause of their frustration, rather than just reacting to their emotions
  • Emotional Intelligence: recognizing and regulating your own emotions while accurately understanding and responding to the client's emotional state
  • Patience and Empathy: capacity to stay calm under pressure and genuinely validate the client's perspective to make them feel heard
  • Creative Problem-Solving: moving past surface-level complaints to assess needs and offer actionable solutions
  • Clear Communication: articulating processes, managing expectations, and communicating limits clearly and professionally
  • Excellent Written and Oral Communication Skills: explaining case status and composing client communication
  • Organizational Skills: keeping track of client and case information
  • Multitasking: ability to move quickly from one inquiry to another
  • Technology Adaptability: comfortable learning new platforms and tools, familiarity with word processing, spreadsheet, email, and database software
  • Team Oriented: ability to work cross-functionally

Experience as a Client Advocate with law firms is welcome but not required. We especially encourage applicants from backgrounds historically underrepresented in the legal profession to apply.
