Your Mission

Support mission-focused logistics operations in Norfolk, Virginia by coordinating long-lead-time material, material requirements, procurement packages, inventory, staging, storage, and logistics data in support of ship repair and maintenance. This role helps ensure material is ordered, tracked, received, documented, and available in accordance with program milestones, availability schedules, and government requirements.

What You’ll Do

As a Logistics Analyst, you will support material planning, procurement coordination, inventory management, and logistics reporting through the following responsibilities:

  • Ensure all material is on order in accordance with Joint Fleet Maintenance Manual (JFMM) milestones for the 50%, 80%, and 100% Long Lead Time Material (LLTM) order dates.
  • Review work specification packages and Requests for Contract Change (RCC) to identify government-furnished LLTM via Navy Maintenance Database (NMD).
  • Review material requirements from the Third-Party Planner (3PP) in Material Requirement (MRQT) and monitor the status of LLTM, critical path material, parts, and assembly requirements provided by the 3PP.
  • Identify alternative sources when estimated delivery dates do not support start dates or availability schedules.
  • Review and technical-edit material information using technical drawings, technical manuals, and other research tools.
  • Submit required market research and develop necessary documents to complete procurement packages when the order method is open purchase.
  • Perform on-site receipt inspections to ensure proper receipt of LLTM and identify damaged or inadequate material receipts.
  • Create inventory lists for material pull and stage requirements prior to Chief of Naval Operations (CNO) availabilities.
  • Assist in staging, shipping, receiving, crating, moving, and storage of LLTM.
  • Document and monitor turnover and transfer of PCMS tiles in accordance with MARMC PCMS Tile Instruction 9740 series.
  • Assist the local storage facility during material inventory.
  • Under logistics management team oversight, work to optimize service levels, maintain supply chain efficiency, and minimize cost.
  • Provide life cycle logistics support for ship repair and maintenance.
  • Track product material requisitions, open purchase actions, and MILSTRIP flow from origin to final delivery.
  • Expedite necessary requirements and ensure follow-up MILSTRIP actions are entered for National Stock Number (NSN) material.
  • Input excess and future use material (FUM) into the government’s Material Access Technology (MAT) database.
  • Create necessary documents using MAT to properly identify FUM for labeling and transition to the local storage facility.
  • Monitor material movement to ensure storage locations are updated in MAT.
  • Assist with properly identifying excess and FUM prior to inputting information into MAT, including physical sight validation at local public or private shipyards when required.
  • Recommend improvements to existing and planned logistics processes.
  • Develop and maintain models for logistics uses, including cost estimating and demand forecasting.
  • Develop reports to provide material status and produce logistics metrics.
  • Provide assistance with or develop standard operating procedures.
  • Coordinate with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) and Code Managers to request necessary funding establishment.
  • Send follow-up correspondence to the maintenance team Project Manager regarding pending funding requirements to support timely purchase package preparation and forwarding to government buyers for approval and release.
  • Review drawings and cost estimates for accuracy and compliance and coordinate with the Project Manager, Shipbuilding Specialist, and other personnel to resolve issues.

Success in this position means ensuring critical ship repair and maintenance material is accurately identified, ordered, tracked, received, staged, documented, and available when needed. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, technically capable, responsive to schedule and funding requirements, and able to coordinate effectively with logistics teams, project managers, subject matter experts, storage facilities, shipyards, and government buyers.

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications

  • Experience supporting logistics, supply, material management, procurement coordination, inventory control, ship repair, ship maintenance, or related technical logistics functions.
  • Ability to review work specification packages, Requests for Contract Change (RCC), material requirements, drawings, cost estimates, technical manuals, and related logistics documents for accuracy and compliance.
  • Experience tracking material requisitions, open purchase actions, MILSTRIP flow, National Stock Number (NSN) material, long-lead-time material, critical path material, parts, assemblies, or similar supply requirements.
  • Ability to support market research, procurement package preparation, material receipt inspections, inventory lists, staging, shipping, receiving, crating, moving, and storage of material.
  • Proficiency developing reports, material status updates, logistics metrics, spreadsheets, databases, and standard operating procedures.
  • Ability to coordinate professionally with project managers, shipbuilding specialists, subject matter experts, code managers, storage facilities, shipyards, logistics teams, and government buyers.
  • Must be able to meet all contract, customer, and worksite access requirements.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience supporting U.S. Navy, Department of Defense, federal government, ship repair, ship maintenance, or waterfront logistics operations.
  • Familiarity with Joint Fleet Maintenance Manual (JFMM), Long Lead Time Material (LLTM), Navy Maintenance Database (NMD), Material Requirement (MRQT), Material Access Technology (MAT), Future Use Material (FUM), MILSTRIP, National Stock Number (NSN) material, or related Navy logistics systems and processes.
  • Experience supporting Chief of Naval Operations (CNO) availabilities, material pull and stage requirements, local storage facilities, or public/private shipyard material validation.
  • Experience developing logistics models, cost estimates, demand forecasts, material status reports, metrics, or process improvement recommendations.
  • Experience coordinating funding requirements, purchase package preparation, government buyer approval, and material procurement follow-up actions.
  • Strong attention to detail, schedule awareness, technical research skills, and ability to support multiple material priorities in a fast-paced maintenance environment.

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position approximately 50% of the time.
  • Must be able to occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, and similar resources.
  • Must be able to frequently communicate with co-workers, management, and customers, including delivering presentations.
  • Must be able to exchange accurate information in professional communication settings.

Final compensation will be determined based on relevant experience, education, certifications, active clearance status, specialized technical qualifications, and contract requirements.
