Basic Qualifications
- Demonstrated knowledge or experience in blueprint and technical data reading, measurement theory, and basic algebra. Testing, adjusting, or maintaining mechanical, fluid, temperature, and electrical type measuring and indicating instrumentation.
- Mechanical aptitude and experience in the use of general purpose hand tools.
- Proficiency with computers, Microsoft Office applications, and ability to learn new software.
- Must have Secret security clearance to start.
Determines method and sequence of operation, services, functionally tests, diagnoses trouble,
overhauls, fabricates, calibrates, certifies, repairs, modifies and installs mechanical and
electronic based precision measuring instruments, test equipment and standards, such as
precision pressure and vacuum instruments, manometers, barometers, flow meters, dial
indicators, bellprovers, load cells, proof loaders, weighing devices, torque devices, thread
gauges and micrometers, optical instruments, gage blocks, thermometers, thermocouples,
safety devices, aircraft weighing systems, etc, Where technical information, procedures and
standards may not have been fully established and it is required to exercise a complete
knowledge of hydraulic, pneumatic, mechanical, flow, temperature measurement, dimensional
and optical theory and practice. Uses and maintains fluid mechanics, physical and optical
reference and working measurement standards in accordance with National Institute of
Standards and Technology and other pertinent practices and procedures.

- Proven ability to function successfully in a team environment.
- Direct calibration and metrology experience.
- Completion of various metrology training programs.
- Familiarity with procedures and quality inspection verification.
- Knowledge of quality processes and participation in audits.
- Maintenance and calibration of fluid mechanics and physical standards.
- Experience operating general laboratory or production test equipment.
- Ability to diagnose issues related to hydraulic, pneumatic, mechanical, optical, temperature, and measuring equipment; take corrective action or notify responsible personnel.
- Fabrication of items such as panels, harnesses, test leads, and calibration aids.
- Development of precision measuring devices, checking methods, or fixtures as required.
- Capability to instruct others in the operation/calibration of fluid, mechanical, physical, and optical test equipment, and test systems.
- Collaboration with vendors and internal personnel to correct problems regarding the design, operation, or maintenance of fluid mechanics, physical, or optical equipment and measurement systems.
