DATA ANALYST (ON-SITE)

The Data Analyst, working as part of the Business Information Systems team, will support the data and analytics initiatives of Springfield Public Schools with a strategic focus on efficient and effective district operations, provisioning datasets for district leaders, and data governance through enterprise integration of district data assets. PLEASE NOTE: This is NOT a remote opportunity. Staff members are expected to work in the office.
Duties
- Work with the Business Information Systems team to provide actionable data to stakeholders supporting and monitoring efficient and effective district operations.
- Support state reporting by assuring data integrity
- Convert existing Access databases and Power Queries to Power BI using Azure data platform.
- Meet with stakeholders to understand data needs and define reporting requirements in alignment with district priorities. Develop reports and dashboards in Power BI to meet these needs
- Support efforts to modernize and automate data processes.
- Integrate data across district systems to promote data quality and governance.
- Collaborate to define, develop, and deploy curated datasets.
- In collaboration with stakeholders, test and validate data deliverables.
- Develop and maintain documentation and code versioning.
- Support a culture of data governance and data literacy.
- Any other duties assigned by Business Information Systems Manager, CIO, or Superintendent of Schools.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in business administration, information systems, computer science, or related study.
- Experience performing data analysis in a business/financial environment preferred.
- Proficiency with Excel and Power Query or comparable data analytic software.
- Experience using modern data and analytics platforms preferred (ex., Power BI or Tableau).
- Experience with database management systems.
- Proficiency with SQL is preferred.
- Experience with one or more programming languages is preferred (Python, JavaScript, R).
- An understanding of data integration patterns using API interfaces is preferred.
- Experience developing data pipelines is preferred.
- Experience with Power Automate or other low code technology is preferred.
- Familiarity with both on-prem and cloud-native application architectures is preferred.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrated success working independently and collaboratively.
- Adept at effectively managing multiple priorities and meeting deadlines in a high-demand environment.
