ABOUT THE ROLE
The Banquet Manager owns the successful execution of all banquet, catering, meeting, and special events at a full-service hotel and convention center. You will lead the banquet team and partner with Culinary, Sales, Convention Services, Engineering, and Housekeeping to deliver exceptional guest experiences while protecting profitability, quality standards, and operational efficiency.
Reports to: Director of Food & Beverage
Supervises: Assistant Banquet Manager, Banquet Captains, Banquet Servers, Bartenders, Housepersons, Set-Up Staff, and Temporary / Event Staff
LOCATION
This role is based on site in Greenville, NC. Local and Eastern North Carolina candidates (Greenville, Winterville, Kinston, Wilson, New Bern, and surrounding communities) are well positioned to commute. We also welcome candidates relocating from the Raleigh-Durham and Research Triangle market and beyond; relocation is a conversation we are glad to have during screening.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Direct and oversee all banquet operations for hotel and convention center events, from setup through breakdown
- Manage labor productivity through staffing, scheduling, payroll review, and deployment of banquet personnel
- Review Banquet Event Orders (BEOs), lead pre-shift meetings, and ensure every event is executed to client specifications and brand service standards
- Recruit, interview, train, coach, and develop banquet team members while fostering a positive and productive work environment
- Partner with the Director of Food & Beverage on departmental goals, budgets, service standards, training programs, and operational initiatives
- Monitor banquet revenues, labor costs, inventory, equipment, and operating expenses against departmental financial objectives
- Inspect banquet facilities and event spaces for quality, cleanliness, safety, and readiness before, during, and after events
- Collaborate with Sales, Convention Services, Culinary, Stewarding, Engineering, and Housekeeping to ensure seamless execution and clear communication of event changes
- Maintain high guest satisfaction by engaging clients directly, responding to requests, and resolving service issues in the moment
- Ensure compliance with property policies, health and safety regulations, sanitation standards, emergency procedures, and responsible alcohol service requirements
QUALIFICATIONS
- 5+ years of banquet, catering, or food and beverage management experience at a full-service hotel, convention property, large-format venue, or premium independent property
- Strong command of banquet operations, catering services, event planning, and food and beverage service standards
- Demonstrated leadership, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Proven ability to manage multiple concurrent events in a fast-paced environment
- ServSafe Manager (food protection manager) certification, or ability to obtain within 90 days of hire
- TIPS or ServSafe Alcohol certification, or ability to obtain within 90 days of hire
- Proficiency with hotel and event management systems; Delphi strongly preferred
- Ability to work a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays
- Bilingual English / Spanish a strong plus
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
- Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds
- Ability to work in a fast-paced banquet and convention center environment
COMPENSATION
$60,000-85,000, commensurate with experience, brand portfolio depth, Delphi fluency, and operational scope. Bonus eligible, with brand-system benefits.
