As part of its reorganization effective August 1, 2026, Office of Statewide Programs will have an opening for Case Navigator in Daviess County.

The Case Navigator provides oversight, coordination, delivery of services and supports to defendants diagnosed with mental illness and or substance use disorder and deemed eligible for participation in the behavioral health conditional dismissal program. This navigator works collaboratively with local courts, prosecutors, defense counsel and other community agencies and professionals. Attends court regularly and is responsible for documentation of case notes and provide prosecutors and defense counsel with updates as required by statute. Provides oversight of collection of data and ensures compliance with statutory requirement.

Examples Of Duties Or Responsibilities Of This Classification

  • Responsible for participant intake utilizing an eligibility assessment.
  • Ensure participant completes clinical assessment within statutory framework and assist participant and provider with coordination of assessment will assist participants with locating and connecting to community resources.
  • Assist with collection, maintenance, and reporting of data for behavioral health conditional dismissal program and ensure statutory compliance from providers and prosecutors.
  • Track participants through court process and act as liaison between participant and case manager to ensure compliance with program
  • Document interactions with clients and, or, community agencies and professionals.
  • Attend court dockets and provide status of participants’ progress as needed.
  • Maintain regular communication with participants and identify barriers and assist participants with resources to help overcome barriers.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements

EDUCATION: 4-Year College Degree in Related Field

EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS: Experience Working with Substance Abuse Treatment Providers and Related Community Resources Education Substitute: Additional relevant work experience may be substituted for the degree on a year-for-year basis.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (AGE, LICENSURE, REGULATION, ETC.): Knowledge of the criminal justice system. Knowledge of the function and jurisdiction of the court. Knowledge of community and private mental health and substance abuse treatment providers.

Working Conditions

Sitting for extended periods of time. Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, and to handle other computer and photography components. Ability to lift, bend and stoop as needed. Due to the nature of the job duties and responsibilities, this position is not authorized for virtual work. Must be able to deal with highly stressed people. Extensive travel with overnight requirements. Must be able to work inside a Detention Center as needed. Performs job duties in an Office or Facility. Work is typically performed in an office, studio, and off-site locations.
