Kindergarten Teacher, Alpha - $120,000/year USD

Crossover

The curriculum is already designed. The AI already handles instruction. Your role is to help a child believe they're capable of something they once thought impossible.

At Alpha, academic work takes students just two hours daily, completed through adaptive learning technology. This frees Guides to concentrate on transformational work: developing confidence, resilience, communication skills, and the drive to embrace difficult challenges. You won't be standing at the front of a room delivering lessons. Instead, you'll be coaching students through obstacles, recognizing achievements, and demonstrating what rigorous standards look like when combined with authentic belief.

You'll oversee one K-3 cohort band—either Kindergarten-1st grade or 2nd-3rd grade. Half your time is dedicated to facilitating dynamic, one-hour workshops focused on life skills such as public speaking, concentration, and feedback. The remaining half involves coaching students individually and in small groups, leveraging learning analytics to ensure every child progresses toward ambitious weekly targets. Every moment counts. Students should exit your workshops more skilled than when they entered and leave your coaching sessions convinced they can accomplish more than they imagined.

This position isn't designed for someone seeking to deliver curriculum or oversee a traditional classroom. It's intended for someone who enjoys motivating young children, excels with measurable results, and believes the right coach can alter a child's path. If you've energized kids as a teacher, coach, camp counselor, youth leader, or performer, you'll discover a distinctly different kind of classroom here.

This is a full-time, on-site position at one of Alpha's campuses. We recruit nationally, so job boards may display this opportunity in nearby cities that do not have a campus.

Current openings are available in Palo Alto, Los Angeles (South Bay), Malibu, Orange County (Lake Forest), San Francisco, and Santa Monica, CA; Greenwich, CT; Boca Raton and Miami, FL; Chicago, IL; Boston, MA; New York City, NY; and Seattle (Kirkland), WA.

If you're interested in another Alpha campus, apply anyway and tell us your preferred location—we'll consider you for the appropriate opening.

What You Will Be Doing

  • Facilitate dynamic life-skills workshops that enable K-3 students to develop communication, concentration, feedback, and other lasting skills through active engagement rather than passive listening.
  • Provide one-on-one and small-group coaching, utilizing Coachbot analytics, established motivation frameworks, and meaningful relationships to ensure every child progresses toward ambitious weekly learning targets.
  • Evaluate life-skill proficiency using Alpha's Test2Pass framework, coaching students until they show genuine understanding—not merely attendance.
  • Adjust your coaching approach to match the developmental stage of your cohort, whether that involves songs, movement, and narrative for younger children or greater independence and responsibility for older students.
  • Cultivate the types of relationships where students feel secure enough to push beyond what they believed they could accomplish.

What You Won’t Be Doing

  • Standing at a whiteboard teaching academic lessons. Students learn academics through adaptive software.
  • Creating curriculum from the ground up. You'll refine and customize proven playbooks rather than designing lessons from scratch.
  • Observing students work quietly on computers. Your role involves active coaching, motivation, and connection.
  • Reducing expectations when students face difficulties. Success derives from supporting students to meet the goal, not adjusting the goal downward.
  • Managing homework, grading papers, or handling routine parent communication.
