Reading Interventionist, Alpha - $100,000/year USD
Crossover
- $100,000 annual salary, paid weekly, including health, dental, and vision coverage from day one
- Full-time on-site position at an Alpha campus in Phoenix, AZ; Oklahoma City or Tulsa, OK; Fort Worth (Keller), Dallas, Plano, or The Woodlands, TX; or Park City (Salt Lake City), UT (relocation assistance available)
- 40-hour work week, 100% classroom-based with K-2 students
You bring deep expertise in structured literacy—Orton-Gillingham, LETRS, Wilson, IMSE, or a Master's in reading instruction. You can diagnose a phonemic gap from a student's miscue and craft a targeted phonics lesson without leaning on a scripted curriculum. That level of mastery is the baseline, not what sets you apart.
What distinguishes you is your ability to captivate six-year-olds. At Alpha, this position is fundamentally a Guide role: you are a dynamic, magnetic presence that young students are excited to work with. Your technical reading knowledge opens the door; your capacity to engage a K-2 group for a 20-minute workshop is what earns you the offer.
Alpha has reimagined traditional schooling. Students advance through academic content independently using AI-adaptive applications—no lectures, no textbooks, no pacing calendars. You'll build small-group reading workshops using live performance data and lead motivation sessions that propel students toward their weekly app targets through school currency, leaderboards, and age-appropriate game mechanics.
Your initial months focus on winning the room. Workshops need to be engaging, appropriately leveled, and demonstrably effective. Direct measures include student satisfaction and "love your Guide" feedback. Once you've established that foundation, your responsibilities expand: analyzing AI-generated insights to refine instruction, documenting fluency and decoding improvements, and contributing to Alpha's evolving K-2 reading strategy as adaptive platforms advance.
Before an offer is extended, you'll submit a brief video sharing an engaging story for young children and complete a full-day campus visit working directly with K-2 students. Low energy with children is disqualifying, regardless of credential strength. Apply today.
What You Will Be Doing
- Creating and facilitating small-group K-2 reading workshops rooted in structured-literacy approaches (Orton-Gillingham, Wilson, LETRS, IMSE, or comparable methods), informed by live student performance data
- Conducting daily motivation sessions that ensure 100% of your students meet their weekly adaptive-app targets, leveraging Alpha's motivational framework (school currency, leaderboards, age-appropriate game elements)
- Delivering and evaluating running records, fluency assessments, and decoding measures to monitor progress and refine subsequent instruction
- Analyzing AI-generated performance insights from Alpha's adaptive learning platforms to personalize instruction dynamically, not only during advance planning
- Serving as the approachable, energetic adult your K-2 students are eager to see each day
What You Won’t Be Doing
- Implementing a commercial reading curriculum, scripted lesson plan, or district-mandated pacing guide; you build lessons directly from student data
- Teaching whole-class lessons; all instruction occurs in small, targeted groups while students engage with academic content through adaptive applications
- Serving as a reading consultant, instructional coach, or district specialist; you work in the classroom with students daily
- Managing a conventional classroom schedule—subject-by-subject lectures, homework checks, test preparation; your time is allocated to workshops, motivation sessions, and data-informed small groups
- Evaluating homework or producing report cards; student advancement is tracked through app analytics and your assessment records
