Voter Out Reach Canvasser

Job Summary

Our local field staff is the backbone of our operation. Every day they each talk to dozens of voters to get petitions signed, register voters, or get out the vote. If you’ve never worked on a political campaign, if you have limited availability, or want to stay close to home, this is the job for you.

We are hiring staff immediately in Iowa City. No canvass experience is required and the job does NOT involve any fundraising. We’re going out to public places and events to talk to help potential voters register to vote in the upcoming election.

Pay

• $25/hour starting
• $28/hour for Team Leaders
• $30 Weekend bonus available for working Saturday & Sunday of a Weekend
• $250 referral bonus available

Responsibilities

• Utilize mobile devices to record voter interactions, update contact information, and track outreach progress accurately
• Communicate effectively with diverse audiences, employing conversational engagement techniques to foster trust and understanding
• Promote voter registration,through face-to-face interactions in outdoor environments
• Manage outdoor work responsibilities responsibly, including walking neighborhoods and navigating various terrains efficiently

Hours & Scheduling

• Part-Time or Full-Time with Overtime hours available, and
• Shift times are set for each day BUT staff pick the days of the week that they work either - weekdays, weekends, or both. (BONUSES FOR WORKING WEEKENDS!)

Skills (Helpful but not Required)

We can train you to do this job! No skills are required but the following skills are helpful to your success!

• Strong communication skills with the ability to connect face-to-face and negotiate effectively with diverse populations
• Prior experience in customer service, telemarketing, or fundraising enhances outreach success
• Supervising experience is a plus for leadership opportunities within the team
• Demonstrated ability to use mobile devices for data collection and communication during field activities

Pay: $25.00 - $28.00 per hour

Expected hours: 8.0 – 40.0 per week
