Flagg & Company CPAs is an established public accounting firm in West Des Moines, Iowa. We provide individual and business tax preparation, small-business accounting, and consulting services. We are seeking dedicated, self-motivated
Tax Accountants to join our growing team.
This is a full-time, in-office position with opportunities for professional growth, performance-based compensation, and a potential path to partnership for the right candidate.
Compensation
The salary range for this position is $65,000–$100,000, based on education, experience, skills, and professional knowledge. Eligible employees may also earn an annual production-based bonus.
Job Duties
- Work directly with clients to address tax and accounting needs, including income tax, payroll, sales tax, bank reconciliations, journal entries, general ledger review, and financial statement preparation
- Prepare accurate, well-organized workpapers that support tax returns, accounting work, and financial reporting
- Respond to routine client questions and provide timely, professional service
- Research and resolve tax and accounting issues
- Assist management with engagement planning, workflow coordination, and project management
- Develop and maintain strong, trusted client relationships
- Stay current with tax, accounting, and professional standards through continuing education
Qualifications And Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience
- At least two years of tax and accounting experience in a public accounting firm preferred
- Working knowledge of federal and state tax rules, GAAP, payroll requirements, and sales-tax rules
- Experience with QuickBooks or Sage 50, Microsoft Office Suite, and income-tax preparation software
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities
- High attention to detail, accuracy, and confidentiality
- Ability to prioritize multiple engagements, manage deadlines, and keep management informed of progress
- Commitment to producing high-quality work and reviewing your own work for accuracy
