Responsibilities
- Assist with minor repair and maintenance duties at various office sites, including replacing doorknobs, hanging frames, and completing other basic repair tasks as needed.
- Provide light electrical repairs on appliances, fixtures, switches, outlets and circuits.
- Sweep, mop, vacuum, empty trash, clean windows, etc. regularly and as necessary.
- Perform groundwork and maintain exterior areas of office sites, including sweeping walkways, clearing debris, removing leaves, keeping entrances clean, and ensuring outdoor areas remain safe and presentable.
- Maintain compliance with NYC sanitation department garbage disposal schedules and regulations.
- Remove snow from sidewalks and entrances in front of office sites.
- Follow appropriate safety precautions and use proper tools and protective equipment when performing repair and maintenance duties.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by manager.
Qualifications
- A minimum of two years building maintenance experience.
- Proficiency in English required; proficiency in a second language preferred.
- Valid driver’s license from the state in which the bearer resides preferred, with less than three (3) points acquired in the last three (3) years
- Strong maintenance skills.
- Ability to pass a physical skills test.
- Strong communication and organization skills with the ability to work with multiple agency personnel.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to use a computer for prolonged periods.
- Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
- Ability to stand, walk, or sit for long periods of time.
- Ability to climb five flights of stairs, if required to conduct home visits and/or fieldwork.
- Ability to bend and retrieve objects and/or documents.
- Ability to travel in the boroughs of New York City and its adjacent counties via public transportation.
- Ability to travel for a minimum of 1 mile within a reasonable amount of time and in all types of weather, including inclement weather, if required to conduct home visits and/or field work.
