Seafood Cutter I/II – Pierless Fish

Location: Brooklyn, NY

Position Summary

Pierless Fish, part of Baldor Specialty Foods, is seeking experienced Seafood Cutters for its Brooklyn facility. In this role, you will prepare whole fish and other seafood into fillets, portions, and finished products according to customer specifications. The work is hands-on and takes place in a refrigerated, wet production environment.

Responsibilities

• Cut, fillet, trim, and portion fish and other seafood to customer specifications.
• Identify and sort different seafood species and products.
• Check products for quality and freshness throughout processing.
• Produce consistent portions within required weight and size tolerances.
• Safely handle, sharpen, and maintain knives and other cutting tools.
• Move product and keep your work area clean and organized.
• Follow food safety, sanitation, and workplace safety procedures.
• Maintain prompt and regular attendance.

Qualifications

• At least 1–2 years of recent fish processing or seafood cutting experience.
• Strong knife skills, including the ability to sharpen and hone knives.
• Ability to perform repetitive cutting and processing tasks for extended periods.
• Ability to work in a refrigerated, wet environment for shifts of 8 or more hours, up to 6 days per week.
• Ability to regularly lift, carry, and move up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to perform repetitive movements involving the hands, arms, legs, and back.

Physical Requirements

This role involves prolonged standing, repetitive cutting motions, and frequent handling and movement of seafood products. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable qualified individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of the role.

Work Environment

The position is based at Pierless Fish in Brooklyn, NY, in a refrigerated seafood processing facility with wet working conditions.
